Don’t mind them Uncle, they have never seen Rivers of Port Harcourt academy that’s why they call this one the best - you will soon shock them with facts :taunt: :taunt:

The problem with overall Nigeria football is the dependency on foreign based players to prosecute national assignments.
They gather with different styles in a very short practice.
What these academies are doing or will be doing is no different from days of non-academy.
The kids of yester-years were street smart in playing football.
These academies is like a farm where kids are groomed and exported (I guess).
They don't remain in the country local league system, play together, and mature into senior national team career.
Chief, where does this happen anywhere in the world?
You are talking 1980s - 40 years ago! :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:
...look at the history of countries that have done well at the world cup, bulk of their players played together and within their domestic league.
Is that a recent history? Was that the last two World Cups, for instance? I am just asking as I have not done the research. However, I point to this period because the WCs prior to the 1980s or 1990s may be irrelevant given that most if not all participants had their players playing locally but the world of football has changed as finances and transfer rules
changed.
...I clearly understand the today movement of players to stardom, and I know you and Damunk will point on that.
At the end of the day star players are groom and cultured by home league before venturing out.
In recent years many SE players are scattered all over, many did not play and grow up together, granted they know or see each other play due to social media.
I still contend that local academy players must be nurtured to eventually be the bulk of the senior national team.

Prof, like I said, mcal is stuck in the past.
Some of those that played in the 80s are grandfathers today. That’s how much time has moved on. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:
Mcal needs to do some homework.
Back then I posted details of the 2018 World Cup squads and it was only England that had a 100% ‘home-based’ squad.
Meanwhile, Belgium did not have a single home-based player in their 23-man squad.
Brazil had only three home based players, one being a GK.
Argentina only four, one also a GK
France and even Germany had heavy ‘foreign’ numbers.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_FIFA ... Cup_squads

The 2014 World Cup figures were hardly any different - Russia’s squad was entirely HBs, England same thing apart from one of their GKs, Argentina had only 3 domestic players and Brazil only four.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_FIFA ... Cup_squads

So I don’t know what mcal is going on about. The global game has long since moved on.
...Damunk those 4 countries you are referencing with fewer home based already played with those overseas stars at numerous local league matches, therefore they know each other.

I have a feeling that should we delve a little deeper into the facts, your statement will turn out to be untrue.
For starters, huge countries like Brazil and Nigeria (both by size and population) are far less likely to have national team players that “played together” before emigrating - that’s if they even stayed around long enough to play professionally at home.
Nigeria is actually one of the few countries that has a very high ROI from our youth teams.
Read that as you may, but in that regard, we are talking about Iheanacho, Awoniyi, Ndidi and Uzoho (with Isaac Success threatening a comeback) from one set alone.

The one in Rivers state was a scam by Wike to siphon money for his Presidential ambition. But that does not stop us from showing what is so impressive about this one. Damunkey said he was "so impressed" by what he saw. I just wanted to know what impressed him since all the things i saw in the video are basic things thar most of the academies have in the country have...pitch, lobby, dormitory. Is it the pool table that impressed Damunkey the most?

But why you dey vex?

Stop being so stubborn and go rewatch.
Pool table will catch your eye since that’s what you guys occupy yourselves doing in the cab office waiting for customers.

I have stated what i saw many times. I saw a glimpse of a pitch, a hallway, a building that apears to be dormitories that we dont know if it belongs to academy since they didnt tell us in the clip, and a pool table. These are basic things most academies have.

Now, you tell what you saw that was so impressive. And let's hope it's not the same basic academy type things i saw...😁

The moral of the story is, Damunkey finds standard basic stuff very impressive.

For 1naija, impressive means above and beyond.

That's a primitive idea of Nigeria unless you have not been to Nigeria lately. And when you do go, don't spend your entire trip in your village.

Besides, Damunkey didn't say it was impressive by Nigeria standard. He said he saw the video and was so impressed. That's means that's the best shait he ever saw. Damunkey should tell us what he saw that was so impressive

These are basic things most academies have.

Now, you tell what you saw that was so impressive. And let's hope it's not the same basic academy type things i saw...😁
Regardless of context? This is Naija we are talking about…it’s impressive…for naija, if you don’t agree show us one better in the country…

Besides, Damunkey didn't say it was impressive by Nigeria standard. He said he saw the video and was so impressed. That's means that's the best shait he ever saw. Damunkey should tell us what he saw that was so impressive

Sure, its primitive, and next time I won't spend my whole time in the village, but sir, please show me another Academy in Nigeria with better facilities than this one? I want to see what I've been missing as I spent my whole time in the village...

You are the one that insinuated that you have seen all the academies in Nigeria and that this is the best among them and is therefore impressive by Nigeria standard. You are the one that needs to prove your insinuation with pictures of the ones you have seen.

BTW, the Rivers state academy, which i do not rate and think is a scam, has everything that was shown in the video, plus a basketball court. They also offer Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and maths in their curriculum. Nothing was mentioned about the curriculum at this academy in the video. So i ask again, what's so impressive about the academy?

Impressive from Remo..

Here is the real Madrid academy in Port Harcourt..

The academy is impressive. If you have a different opinion, thats okay. However, it is impressive for Damunk and there should not be a problem with that. Remo Stars club has built an impressive facility and remains the only NPFL club that owns its facility. A facility not only used by the club but also by the Nigerian u17 team.

The difficulties of statistical thinking describes a puzzling limitation of our mind: our excessive confidence in what we believe we know, and our apparent inability to acknowledge the full extent of our ignorance and the uncertainty of the world we live in. We are prone to overestimate how much we understand about the world and to underestimate the role of chance in events -- Daniel Kahneman (2011), Winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics
