Nigeria manager Jose Peseiro has assessed the performance of Victor Osimhen during Napoli's 2-0 win over Atalanta in a Serie A match on Saturday, March 11.



The Portuguese football tactician was present at the Diego Maradona Stadium to run the rule over the Napoli number 9 and Ademola Lookman, who entered the game as a substitute in the 89th minute.



One of the lasting images from the game was in the closing minutes of the contest, after Osimhen made way for Giovanni Simeone .



The Napoli number 9 was visibly disappointed at himself for failing to get on the scoresheet in back-to-back matches in the Serie A for only the second time this season.



On the pitch, the highlight of his performance against the Bergamo outfit was providing the assist for Napoli's opening goal scored by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.



Peseiro was delighted with the performance of Osimhen and underlined that he was the talisman of the Napoli side against Atalanta.



Assessing the performance of the Super Eagles striker, Peseiro said to Sportitalia : "Osimhen seems to me to have played an excellent game.



"He didn't score, but he came close. And he made an assist. He fought, he was important for the team as always.



"His teammates had a great need for him, in fact, when there were difficulties they often looked for him. This time too he was decisive".



Barring an injury, Osimhen will lead the Super Eagles' attack in their upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches with Guinea-Bissau.

Forget it. The next tournament in Ivory Coast cannot be played in the summer. Once the tournament is awarded to a West African country, forget about a summer tournament. Our rainy seasons is very severe & disruptive. The 2025 tournament will likely be in North Africa so most likely will be played in the summer. I believe it could also be played in the summer in east & southern Africa.

Agreed but CAF should do some research on drainage and cheap roofed stadia and pass it on to any future West African nations that wish to host a tournament because there shouldn’t be inconsistency when it comes to the time of year a tournament that is played every 2 years.

It's not just about stadia. Check stories from Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Cameroon etc over the last few years about serious flooding in towns & cities caused by torrential rain and poor city drainage. The question would be how would fans & equipment get to the stadia in such conditions. Our rains virtually disrupt activities during this period. Until we upgrade our general infrastructure, it will be virtually impossible.
