Re: Ibrahim Hafiz Umar joins FK Bodø/Glimt from Ojodu City Academy
Do we actually produce midfielders in Nigeria anymore?
Re: Ibrahim Hafiz Umar joins FK Bodø/Glimt from Ojodu City Academy
For the player, yes.
For Nigerian football? Perhaps in the long term...

Liverpool, European Champions 2005.
We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini. We used to think before then that if the other players are better, you have to lose. After that we learned anything is possible – you can beat better teams by using tactics." Jurgen Klopp

My problem is that this systematically undermines the league

This lad did the right thing for his family. He had offers from si called bigger clubs but went with the money as I am told. This is the decision I would predict for most of these lads. You need to watch his video interview where he alludes to family poverty and how he sees football as a way out. I laud him. That should be his focus -- wsy out of poverty and hope for the best and the future. Nothing else. Thinking of SE or things like that at this moment should be lowdown the totem pole.
The difficulties of statistical thinking describes a puzzling limitation of our mind: our excessive confidence in what we believe we know, and our apparent inability to acknowledge the full extent of our ignorance and the uncertainty of the world we live in. We are prone to overestimate how much we understand about the world and to underestimate the role of chance in events -- Daniel Kahneman (2011), Winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics

I'm not talking about the player. He made the decision that I expect every player to make.
I'm talking about the larger issue of players sidestepping the league entirely.

How much do you guys know about FK Bodo? How many have even ever heard of this club before today?
While I’m happy for the lad, in a way, this highlights the bane of Nigeria; our fixation with any and everything European.
Anyway, good luck to the lad
Cheers.

Exactly.
Both systematically and systemically.

Was this guy in any of our youth teams?

There are people on CE that you do not even waste your time with. The one you responded to is one of them.ikemba wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2024 8:35 amVictor Boniface was there for 3yrs.TonyTheTigerKiller wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2024 8:01 am How much do you guys know about FK Bodo? Bodo has won the Norwegian league the last 3 years, and has also played in the Europa or Conference league in the last few years, so he should get some exposure there. It's a good starting point for Umar.
