Jesus didn't die so we could have religion. He died so we could have a deep, intimate, personal relationship with God.

This is exactly why I take any achievements from the NPFL with a generous dose of salt...

Liverpool, European Champions 2005.

We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini. We used to think before then that if the other players are better, you have to lose. After that we learned anything is possible – you can beat better teams by using tactics." Jurgen Klopp

We have a culture of self deceit. Yemi knows that the subject here is completely different from that of poor refereeing incidents which you will always have in football.

This investigative report is about corruption

The issue is the FALSE EQUIVALENCY.

Yes, if addressed independently and with no convergence.

Is FALSE EQUIVALENCY still valid in a case where EPL referees noted for dodgy officiating are considered for world cup roles but NPFL referees, despite the fundamental differences, also noted for dodgy officiating are not?

There is no convergence here, so it's misleading.

Dodgy officiating in England & dodgy officiating in Nigeria are factors that find convergence at some point.

There is a reason why no Nigerian ref made it to the AFCON. Not even a linesman

That’s my point.

AFCON & other CAF competitions serve as focal point for referees across Africa. If dodgy officiating rules Nigerian refs out, why is it that similar officiating has not ruled Ghana referees out?

I will bring out another false equivalency to drive home this point with the example of Air Peace and the long frustrated direct flights between UK and Nigeria. It took a Festus Keyamo to confront and address the real issue previously dismissed as “obviously justified” and a no-brainer.

Let’s stop being hasty in throwing out the water, the baby might be there. I have seen shockingly top class officiating at the NPFL that left me wondering why we are allowing injustice on the few good ones. It gives me vibes similar to the 419 stereotype.

Its not about quality of officiating but corruption.

False equivalency is conflating poor refereeing with corruption, bribery, intimidation and violence against referees.

Frankly, I only addressed the headline, and deliberately too. So “conflating” is a stretch in this case.

And you know that the "poor refereeing" in the EPL is not due to criminal conspiracy?

In your mind you actually believe that the consistent poor officiating in the EPL is due to incompetence?

Nigerians just love fraud, lying and cheating and will go to any length to find equivalencies...

There are examples of poor officiating in EVERY LEAGUE and every season...

And where there is conspiracy, like in Serie A, people have gone to jail!!

Your automatic defense of bad officiating in the EPL as being due to incompetence shows your bias which you display at any given opportunity.

The worst part is that you don't even realize your bias.

BTW, the LMC has taken punitive measures against referees and the teams that intimidate referees. But you can't help yourself.

The report is from an investigative journalist in Nigeria's foremost newspaper.

It clearly shows that the issue under discussion is NOT refereeing errors, which happens all over the world.

The issue of the investigation is corruption by clubs, referees, intimidation of officials and violence against refs.

You belong to this class of Nigerians who will forever make excuses for Nigeria's failures.

How can we move forward if we cannot simply acknowledge our failures and try and do better, rather than seek meaningless excuses and moral equivalences...

The report also states that actions have been taken by the LMC, but it also concludes that it is not enough...
