This is what makes him Osimhen actually.

Mikel even touched on it in their most recent Podcast (the 2nd episode), and Osimhen said the fire in him is positive (my own words).

This is what separates Osimhen from the rest of the Super Eagles. It's not just about IQ and technique, and vision, and workrate. The guy has a fire that burns within him.

Guys like Samu, Boniface etc. they don't have that fire. On this forum we always talk about skills and IQ and this and that, but we don't touch on mentality. I tried to emphasise it in one thread and people were still downplaying it.

Mentality is no small thing, it is actually THE defining factor in being world class. Even Ronaldinho would have had to have some level of positive mentality, as much as he talks about his partying and his drinking. He would have had to. You can't be world class with talent alone, I don't care how much talent you have. Some element of your mentality (wether it is immense confidence) got you there. Of course, some have maximum mentality and those can sustain their talent for longer.

Cristiano Ronaldo without his mentality, how good is he? I think he would nowhere near his current status. I might be like a top 300 player maybe. I have watched Ronaldo again and again and again, and to be honest, there is nothing about the guy that says to me that he would be truly special, without his mentality. Even his athleticism is a product of his mentality. How high could he jump at sporting Lisbon? His skills? ehhhh they were ok, but I would argue that even someone like Chukwueze is probably more naturally gifted. Quaresma was way more naturally gifted.

His physicality that people love so much, MENTALITY created it. His finishing is partly talent, but mentality refined it.

mentality is so damn important. It is a force multiplier. I think with mentality we would have won the AFCON and we would been on pace to qualify for the WC. But mentality is almost impossible to teach. Osimhen can't teach what he has to someone like Ola Aina or teach it to Iwobi. He can't teach it.
Buhari, whose two terms thankfully ground to a constitutional halt in May. (One thing both democracies have going for them is that their leaders, however bad, have only two terms to swing the wrecking ball.) Under Buhari, growth per head also plunged to 0. An economic agenda drawn from the dusty pages of a 1970s protectionist handbook failed to do the trick. Despite Buhari’s promise to tame terrorism and criminality, violence flourished. Despite his reputation for probity, corruption swirled. FT

Thank you. Mentality, coupled with, rather than skill, talent or prowess alone is often the determining factor when it comes to succeeding in many sporting pursuits. Until we get a squad made up mainly of players who have it in spades, the Eagles will continue to disappoint. The current squad has a lot of players who want to win, but on their own terms.

Watching Boniface's body language in the clip, its so lackadaisical and looks like a loser, as well.

I think is high time we change our HOME GAMES VENUE from this AKPABIO STADIUM. The ñame and reputation surra ding that name right now is a curse to our home game in that Stadium. If we can't go Abuja or Lagos we better go to Port Harcourt or Abeokuta.

Look no further than the poor managers we hired. All of them have been below par on team selection, tactics and game management. Every armchair supporter can see it except you. I tire for you. It is nothing to do with the players. You are only as strong as your weakest link. And that is why people are paid to “manage” and not blame their tools.

All our coaches have created problems for themselves right from the invitees. It’s either they don’t invite a left back, or they only invite one, or they don’t invite inform players and bring in untried homebased players that never get recalled.

True talk, however the fault is not of Chelle who just took over the team. The first 2 coaches did the damage already with the first 4 games already and coaching may actually be the most important X-Factor of a team's result today bcos of the parity in talent with many countries having their pro players playing in Europe already... . :???:

The first 4 games were where the damage was done already bcos if even we'd beat Zimbabwe yesterday, we are still playing for 2nd in that group South Africa will still be a clear 4 point ahead and I know they can see the light at the end of this tunnel. South Africa will not drop the ball of an 5 point clear lead over the 2nd places of Benin & Rwanda at the moment !!

Lolly,

Sadly, you cannot continue to blame Managers from Rohr, to Peseiro to Eguavoen, to Finidi, and now Chelle. Yet, the players are blameless? Nope! While I agree that surely it is the manager who invites the players, we must also understand that these are the players that we all hype as being Europe based, Top 5 Leagues, etc, etc. BTW, the teams obtaining these results against SE are ranked way poorly than the SE and yet..... Look at Lesotho, this is a bunch of local players with a 'nondescript' Manager and yet the SE failed to beat them at home. You still think the players are culpable as well? Nope. Problems a re NEVER based on one component. Problems result from multiple components and players cannot be exempt from being one of those components. No way is that possible.... Further, I hope you will maintain the idea that players cannot be blamed when a HB player is used and the player fumbles and it leads to an SE defeat. I look forward to you blaming the Manager asnd not the player when the situation presents itself.

LOL. I have posted similar papers on every Manager that Nigeria has sought to hire whenever such write-ups exist. Posting them does not always signify that I want or do not want them hired. It simply represents presenting information to CE.

I am fairly certain some players were imposed on him. There is no way Papa Daniel should be in the squad if the manager was doing his job without interference. Eguavoen’s defence of that invitation tells us all we need to know. He was already pencilled in for invitation by Eguavoen well before Chelle was employed. And they told us the coach now saw him on a visit to the CHAN training camp and liked what he saw. Really? For doubleheader do-or-die World Cup qualifiers, he invites the same player who left his club to attend trials overseas and did not play competitive football for 6 weeks until he turns up in camp. That is criminal any way you look at it.

I have my suspicions on a few others but they are not as clear-cut as Papa Daniel.

Call their names!

Amas Obasogie - it was very clear when Eguavoen spoke about his friend, the Bendel Insurance coach and how that one helped him scout Papa Daniel. Amas has moved to backwater sh1t Ethiopia, but it is clear he is an Eguavoen boy

Kayode - the sh1t that OgunmoDvnce refuses to play at Remo, but he brought him to the SE.

Aribo and Al Hassan -- the coach legit refused to even look at the first one and only played the second sh1t because his two right backs were injured.

I want to even look at the left back. You are a left back and the coach does not even trust you??

Three home games under different managers, zero wins.... Na real wa!.... Tomorrow we go still hype them.... Dis and dat dey play Top Five League. Yet, Top FIve could not save us against minnows with HB players!!! :???: :???:
Look no further than the poor managers we hired. All of them have been below par on team selection, tactics and game management. Every armchair supporter can see it except you. I tire for you. It is nothing to do with the players. You are only as strong as your weakest link. And that is why people are paid to “manage” and not blame their tools.

All our coaches have created problems for themselves right from the invitees. It’s either they don’t invite a left back, or they only invite one, or they don’t invite inform players and bring in untried homebased players that never get recalled.
It's the height of arrogance to think you know more than a slew of professional football managers and what personnel they need to get the job done. Their expertise is coaching. Yours is not.

The consistency of poor results across different managers shows that the problem is the players or long-standing admin issues affecting their on-field performances. For example, was the bonus issue ever resolved?

After this competition, it goes without saying that the team needs to be rebuilt around a core of new players. We've seen enough of these guys.
