Czech Republic side Slavia Praha have release a statement which explains why newly invited Super Eagles defender Igho Ogbu didn’t get to play any minutes for Nigeria in the world cup qualifiers, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Ogbu was invited for the first time to the senior national team of Nigeria by head coach Eric Chelle for the games against Rwanda in Kigali and Zimbabwe in Uyo respectively, but didn’t get to play in both games.

Seen as one of the young alternatives to the current center backs of the team, the former Nigeria U17 and U20 defender will be out injured for a while according to his club.

A statement from the club’s website revealed that the 25 year old picked up a tear in his adductor muscle in the groin in training with the Super Eagles, they said they will know the length of time he will be absent after an MRI scan.

“I don’t have a detailed report yet, he’s going to have an MRI. The first predictions are a tear in the adductor muscle in the groin. He was injured like this once and came back in half the time. We’ll see after the examination”, coach of the team Jindřich Trpišovský said while speaking on their 0-0 draw against Dukla.
