Man Utd Eyeing Shock Move to Sign ‘Powerful’ £20m Striker Instead of Gyokeres

Manchester United are targeting a surprise deal to sign Racing Genk striker Tolu Arokodare this summer, according to United in Focus.
The Red Devils are known to be in the market to sign a new striker during the summer transfer window for Ruben Amorim, as the club look to solve their goalscoring issues to improve on a horror season in 2024/25 that saw them finish 15th in the Premier League and lose the Europa League final.

The summer so far has revolved around interest in big names for the position, but reports now suggest that United chiefs could be looking at more moderate and under the radar options instead.
According to the report, Man Utd have been compiling a shortlist of striker options as a back-up to their current main targets, and one name who has emerged is Arokodare of Genk.

The 24-year-old finished the 2024/25 season as the Belgian league's top scorer with 17 goals, while he scored 23 in all competitions, and is now attracting interest from several clubs across Europe.

Described as 'powerful' and 'prolific', the Nigeria international is a player that United chiefs Christopher Vivell and Jason Wilcox are both aware of and appreciate, and that has seen his name mentioned at Old Trafford.

While he isn't a top candidate to be signed at the moment, United could move for a lesser-known option like Arokodare depending on how their pursuit of their main targets goes.

It's believed that Arokodare would cost around £20m this summer if he were to leave, with Benfica also showing an interest. It's also believed that he would be on low wages, and a deal could be possible as he is entering the final two years of his contract in Belgium.

The same Tolu that a few on Cybereagles claim isn’t good enough for the SE!
I hope this move materializes. Tolu is a very good striker, good height, speed and can score!
Hopefully we can see him even partner rather than be replacement option for Osimhen.

This sounds like his agent at work. Man Utd cannot afford to buy another untested striker after the catastrophic failure of their current strike force.

Apparently, there was an inquiry made - but nothing more. Lets see how the summer unfolds. Seems the offer he has from the EPL is from one of the promotes sides.

While I do admire Tolu BUT Man U signing a player says NOTHING considering what they've done in close to a decade. Wearing Man U shirt now is like an insult :)

Exactly my point, if Manu was in the local league they would have been relegated considering their points.
