IMO, i think blessing held back a bit in the final stretch once she knew qualification was assured..

every 2nd lap, the last place rider is eliminated.

they should try that in track

lol... that would be interesting.. but I don't think it is a good idea. Firstly it would be more of an endurance race , in cycling you only burn fuel so its easy to rest and re-energize between races, in running you actually damage tissue in process of running, injuries are far more likely.
