There is such a thing as karma.

Canada deserved to beat the US in the semi-final. Three times they pulled ahead
and three times the US equalized before the US score late in extra time (115th
minute or so) to win 4-3. The drama is because the US 3rd goal was questionable.
The ref called an indirect kick in the penalty box because the goalie held the
ball too long (more than 6secs) .... she then gave a penalty on the ensuing
free kick because the ball unintentionally struck the Canadian defender's
hand.

Anyhow, today in the 3trd place match, Canada played France. No way Canada
deserved to win. They were outplayed by France who hit the bar twice and had
goal-line clearances etc. However, Canada scored a last -gasp winner in the 90th
mniute and took the bronze! They didn't deserve to win today's game but it would
have been an injustice for them to leave the olympics without a medal.

That was one of the best football games I have ever seen (men or women).

Complete farce. You NEVER call a goalie for time wasting with a free kick in the 80th minute. It has to be egregious and come on the end of repeated and crystal clear warnings. Then the following penalty call?

Like I said, it's a complete farce, as it seemed like the referee insisted that the US team have a tie.

Contrast that penalty to the one denied today to the Japanese against the US. Tobin Heath clearly brought the ball down in the penalty area and then dribbled it out. No call. Even the announcers compared it to the one against Canada and called inconsistency.

I root for the US, but not this women's team. Too much help was given along the way in the semis and final by the officials.

Cheers, Mate

I agree with mate, I root for the US national team and the US in general but this particular team isn't too likeable.

It was a disgrace to unbiased officiating. Daylight robbery. See mate's mail for further details. Canada didnt deserve to lose.

Now that it is official that FIFA is a corrupt organization, anything is believable including FIFA-sponsored match fixing.

Bronze is ok atleast they made it to the podium. Christine Sinclair na reall baller though, but it's sad that she had to lose to U.S again. She lost the first women's FIFA U-19 world championship at the youth level, held as the 2002 to U.S

The final was held in Edmonton and it drew a crowd of 47,000 to watch the hosts play the United States, but Canada conceeded a goal in extra time at the dieing minute just like the Olympics. Canada's Christine Sinclair was the adidas Golden Ball recipient, as tournament MVP, and the Golden Shoe (10 goals) winner. I move she win the MVP again this year, she's a great striker.
