Konate broke the World Cup record for most tackles in a World Cup game against Tunisia. He had 11 tackles. Why he is not playing is a mystery.ohsee wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 3:43 pmWhy is Ibrahima "One Man Defence" Konate not in the centerback pairing? I would have played him instead of Uppermechanic.Scipio Africanus wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 3:26 pm Lineups:
France: Lloris, Koundé, Varane, Upamecano, T.Hernández, Tchouaméni, Rabiot, Dembélé, Griezmann, Mbappé, Giroud.
Poland: Szczesny, Bereszynski, Glik, Kiwior, Cash, Krychowiak, Zielinski, Szymanski, Frankowski, Kaminski, Lewandowski.

Playing with a low block is a legitimate tactic in football.
You play to your own strength as well as to minimize the opponent's strength.
The Poles are not on the same talent level as France.
Football doesn't work like that

Liverpool, European Champions 2005.
We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini. We used to think before then that if the other players are better, you have to lose. After that we learned anything is possible – you can beat better teams by using tactics." Jurgen Klopp

Poland with a rare sequence of passes.
Usually I give an underdog a chance if they hold out in the opening 15-20 minutes. Again, I mean no disrespect. But Poland plays with little ambition or skill and probably won't see many if any quality chances.
France is also exceptional in the final 1/3rd.

I know, but with the STARTS France is parading, they should beat Poland with 'relative ease.'txj wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 4:19 pmFootball doesn't work like thatOdas wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 4:17 pmIf so, I hope they are ready to home home, thentxj wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 4:15 pmIts about people not understanding the game.theDunamis wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 2:34 pmWhy is it "cowardly" rather than pragmatic? Re: [WC 2022 R16] FRANCE 0 POLAND 0
Give credit to the Poles. They are actually attacking more than in any game they have played this WC.

France is shifting a bit, laying back now, trying to get that sucker punch counter.
Let's see if the Poles take the bait and gamble on some numbers in the final 1/3rd.
The French are versatile. Pretty nice football to see.

Re: [WC 2022 R16] FRANCE 0 POLAND 0
Dare France be level at the break. A goal in the first half or early second is an absolute must. If they venture too far into the Pole’s fishing net, they’ll be torn a brand new Krakow.
Frustration is the name of the game.

Poland also getting greater foothold in MF
They're shifting Lewa into a near inside right position

Mbappe tried to do too much on that. Needs to pass. Even his speed won't beat 2 men staggered.

See how Poland almost shot itself with that gift giveaway?
Defender should have let that ball go out but instead saves it to French player for breakaway.
This is football IQ.
