Do they have tribalism in Japan? I know it plenty in Senegal and Cameroon. Some of our local coaches are not tribalist but the infrastructure is not there for them to scout all over the country. Poverty & corruption are part of our problem. We don’t pay our good local coaches and we don’t hire excellent foreign coaches.
We have no excuse to be poor. None! We are blessed with so many natural resources and we have squandered them all. Japan has almost no natural resources and look how rich and developed they are. No, we are our own problem. 8-)

Germany has itself to blame, they thought the match was won at 1-0.
Pitiful performance from the team.

The funny thing is that if Germany had a striker like Miroslav Klose, this match would have been 4-0 in their favor by halftime.

Let’s hope so. Qatar has seen what the Saudis could achieve with a bit a self-belief and heart. Going forward, Qatar will lay it on the line. I am afraid for CAF.

Daring to challenge the big guns tactically reaping rewards. The saudis played a high line unapologetically against a team full of pin point passers and beat them. The japanese coach switched to a dedicated back 3, replaced defensive with offensive and didn't cower and ripped apart the textbook football jamans are very good at. They were still doing their organizational nonsense while the japanese were playing video game footy.

Not if a Senegalese player gets a red card very early in the game. If I’m Senegal, keep them studs down & be careful of 50-50 challenges.

What about 2 red cards? Lol We will find out if FIFA is really corrupt. I don’t trust Infantino with his one hour rant, and his last min ban on alcohol and the arm band fiasco.

Liverpool, European Champions 2005.

We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini. We used to think before then that if the other players are better, you have to lose. After that we learned anything is possible – you can beat better teams by using tactics." Jurgen Klopp

After seeing Croatia today, I believe you.

I fell asleep after halftime. I wake up: Japan beat Germany 2:1!

Wow. Football is something.

And yes, even from what I watched, Japan played valiantly and to their strengths. Countering with speed and some skill. I just thought physically the difference was too much...I was wrong!

Nigeria was beating Japan 3-0 in the mid-1990s. When one expresses one's frustration about many things Nigeria, e be like say person to talk. We are retrogressing so badly it's beyond tragic. The current we are unable to handle while the future is rapidly being taking away from us. Our lack of seriousness means we can't provide the enabling environment for our 'locals' to thrive while our unseriousness means we are sadly unlikely to attract the best diaspora talent to lace up for us. Like I said, it is just so %$#@^& exhausting
God bless and keep Nigeria and make his face shine on her undeserving as she may be.

What changed since then? Back then all their players played in thr J league. Rewind to the present, all their players except the goal keeper plays professionally. Five of their midfielders that played today play in the Bundesliga. Talk about knowing your opposition very well.

The German NT & their clubs play similar system. That is why Bayern snatches up all the good players from other german clubs. The only difference is Bayern have the money to add other international players. We are here debating LC vs FC.

Bros,

It was only a matter of time before our football caught up with the general rot of our Nigerian state. I still say 1994/90s was an anomaly. We had an accidental collection go great players with a decent agent mix of experience and youth. A single minded and motivated coach even if he was tactically limited and a very supportive sole admin in Amos Adamu and the late Aikhomu. What happened after, we truly could not really Marshall or build on our success.

I will always have a lot of time for the late big boss Keshi. What that man did for us in 2013 was nothing short of a miracle when one considers the profile of players he had.

Anyway, all is leftt Is for one to observe and enjoy football as a neutral because as a Nigerian, it is just too painful to observe what we have allowed to happen to us.
God bless and keep Nigeria and make his face shine on her undeserving as she may be.
