The goal keeper that Okocha and Babayo scored against in Atlanta 96? :rotf: :rotf:

Uzoho’s 6’7” frame helped big time against Messi and Partey after Party … oh hold up.

That second Argentina goal is a carbon copy of Caniggia’s goal against Rufai in 1994

Argentina will be fired up now going forward.

Nonsense. Wouldn’t mind seeing Igwe lift it, but truth be told, this Argentina side are poor. Very poor. Think they’ll struggle to overcome Denmark, assuming they progress.

I'm just wary of the fact that some of these big teams tend to grow into tournaments

I hadn't seen them play much but people were making a lot of noise about them. Haven't been impressed from the admittedly little I've seen (2nd half vs SA, 1st half vs Mexico).

The Saudis might even be the best team in the group although that's no guarantee they'll progress. I saw much of their 2nd half vs Poland and they were the better team. All to play for, perhaps Argentina have some momentum but I wouldn't be surprised if they went out.

Huh? The Saudis aren’t the best team in the group. Arguably not even the second best

I agree. But football is funny on how Argentina looked day and night different in 2 games. It took them a while to score today…but they overall looked purposeful, disciplined, and a lot more creative.

I’m still not sold they are one of the contenders.

My bros, fear don catch me. This Argie team can beat France.

They CAN beat France but France have too much firepower for them so it is quite unlikely

Law number 2 of international football is that you cannot beat Argentina, no matter how poorly they are playing, with mediocre strikers.

...granted about your videos, Jorge Campos was still one of the best during his time. A flamboyant short goalie, 5' 7'' tall, height is not everything you need in a gkper, you need foresight and agility.

Up until Messi’s strike, what had Argentina shown to suggest they were much more than their Saudi shambles? Completely and utterly disjointed, what is their approach beyond circulate the ball precariously before playing it to a mosey-on-down Messi a million miles from goal and hoping for a magic trick.

Did they make use of Martinez’s movement and speed over the first few yards? What MacAllister’s midfield wizardry? What exactly did the inverted wingers offer? Yes, they won, but to suggest that display was a sign of their return to a greatness of decades past, absolutely not. Poland will be a struggle playing at that tempo.
