The ball for Japan’s goal crossed the line before the cross. Replays show this clearly. Germany was screwed!!

Croatia gets lucky. Morocco has the harder next game.

Football is interesting.
At this point and based on what we have seen anyone can beat anyone in this World Cup.
I can actually see Morocco beating Spain.

Not so fast. The last time your boys met Japan at the WC it was a 0-0 draw. This Japan team is miles ahead of that team

Definitely.

But Spain has a style that is a bad match up for both Croatia and Morocco.

Croatia like to possess and counter, but Spain can really posses and limit chances.

Morocco likes to lay back even more in and then counter, but same applies, Spain can posses and tire Morocco dogged defense.

Were I a Morocco or Croatia fan, I'd rather play Japan than Spain.

Again, I am not taking Japan for granted. They beat Germany and Spain, a monster achievement. Run all day and counter with speed...but they don't have the same overall talent as other opponents in the 2nd round.

And this Croatia is light years ahead of that crap Croatia team.

Nah. Think back to 1998 when Suker & Co beat Japan.

:)

Jokes aside, I'll take Japan any day over Spain as an opponent.

I think so wold you.

No it didn’t cross the line. The entire ball has to clear the line.

Did you see the view that lined up with the line? The bottom of the ball cleared the line but not the outmost edge.

This is razor thin. The tech is better for this kind of call, but cannot be 100%.

I am not sure how you call that. I guess it came down to discretion or did they actually rely on the tech?

If discretion, well, it might be one of those times the bigger team didn't get the benefit of the doubt.

Two angles (directly above and side-rear views) show the ball over the line. All other angles do not.
The Spanish feed keeps showing it.

Infantino looked concerned and uncomfortable.

Not that I care about Germany being screwed. They have gotten away with murder at the WC many times, including when they conspired to eliminate Algeria in 1982 and when they almost killed a French player on the field

Fair enough. To my eye, it looks like it did cross the line...but this may not be the case for reasons discussed.

Just saw it again, it’s a VAR angle. Apparently the VAR has 70 camera angles.

I got more clarity.

29+ cameras. Hawk-Eye between goal posts. Sensor tech in the ball as well.

But ultimately a VAR review decides. They are instructed to rule in play if not conclusive. That seems fair as it eliminates bias...well, it would be interesting if VAR officials disagreed with each other.

In this case, it seems the right call was made.

Based on your conspiracy theories, the call should've gone to the favored team, Spain, right?

Liverpool, European Champions 2005.

We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini. We used to think before then that if the other players are better, you have to lose. After that we learned anything is possible – you can beat better teams by using tactics." Jurgen Klopp

I agree.

But believe me, we have issues with Spain.

Even though Croatia doesn't put stock into National League, they beat us 6-1 a few years ago. Beat us in the Euro in OT.

We can get beat by Japan for sure. But I doubt we can lose 6-1. It's not that have no respect for Japan, as I know this will be a tight game. I just think we match up better in style.

Honestly, would you have your team playing Spain or Japan?
