Someone should update the score on the thread. Leao’s goal was so good I hate to see it ignored.

Are you sure? Morocco is a much better defensive team than Switzerland. With a much better goalkeeper. They have not allowed a goal in this WC.

please can someone change the 5 to 6. A naïve European team let in 6 freaking goals in a last 16 tournament. This European team let in a total of 10 freaking goals in 4 matches, more than all the CAF teams combined, excluding ghana because they do not count

But they haven't met a team like Portugal.

Portugal will be a very tough out as long as they keep Ronaldo on the bench where he belongs.
What a performance.
Joao Felix needs to flee Athletico ASAP.
That coach for all his great things has derailed that young man’s career. Now I know what all the hype is about

Perhaps. But I assure you it won't be 6:1.Remember our wise saying from home: Football no be mathematics.

If Morocco did not concede in the first 30mins then it will be a tough game for Portugal. Switzerland was not defending at all.

Morocco were defending with all 11 players with little space for Spain to run into. And they defended quite deep.

Switzerland was playing a very open game and after conceding the first goal so early in the match they were left with no choice but to attack!

Morocco will sit back and play on the counter. They just need to target Pepe.

The Grand of Duke was firmly reminded that only the finest wines ripen when uncorked. Most sour. Substituted for being absolutely ineffectual, a conclusion long since reached by most and arrived at with all the hesitation allowed Fernando Santos, the benching that followed arguably resuscitated a footballing force.

Portugal came alive once Ebubedike was subdued to a light breeze. Ronaldo has reached the ceiling of his reinvention, he is now simply a fading goal scorer shorn of many of his once other worldly abilities. The pace, gone, the willingness to work, though never Polish in offering, is now almost Aiyegbenish. He’s a liability for the full 90 and a trump card for the last 10-20. When desperation calls, what an asset, the Ole Gunnafication is complete. Super sub. Perhaps there’s a bit of Chicharito in there, better off the bench but otherworldly for one night only, once upon a time.

Having won the Euros for Portugal whilst on the bench in the dying embers, might he do the same once more? Winning the World Cup through wise words and high fives with the combatants on the field of play.

There is a sadness that stirs deep within watching the Gods of our generation reduced to mere mortals. Ronaldo yards offside slamming the ball home in desperation, Messi barely capable of a sprint, stringing passes, some of which misplaced, the thought alone was once oxymoronic.

This is most certainly the end of an era. Mbappe’s seizing of the mantle couldn’t be more convenient nor opportune. Football needs a new Super Man and on the grandest stage, he’s stepped forward from all the suited Clarkes to be just that.
