2006 - France did the honors
2010 - Netherlands dumped out Brazil
2014 - Germany crushed them at home 7-1 to toss them out
2018 - Belgium eliminated them
2022 - Croatia evicts Brazil from the WC

Anyway they should enjoy their 5 cups. No one is catching them anytime soon.

Brazil qualified easily.
Then cruised through the group stages.
HIstorically, S. American teams that have it so easy do NOT win.
But those that struggle to qualify and grow into the tournament, win the WC.

Argentina stumbled against Saudi Arabia.
We’re bruised by Mexico at the group stage.
Then Australia gave them a shakeup.
The Netherlands put them to the sword and they wiggled out.
But Croatia will be a mountain.

Meanwhile, Brazil were dancing samba all tournament, until Croatia equalized in the quarterfinal.

You need a modicum of luck to win the WC. Brazil had none. It is what it is.

Argentina also squeezed through today, and that ref is a Messi fan.
They should count their lucky stars, and hope to up their game vs Croatia and hope for a proper Messi masterclass, because the 3 Lions will be waiting for them and snarling in the Final!

People are blaming Brazil for not changing formation and defending after their goal. Guess what, if they had conceded possession to that Croatian midfield, the result would probably be the same. You are right, sometimes luck plays a bigger role than we think.

+1 for the ref being a Messi fan. Argentina should have had 2 red cards today. The moron who kicked a ball with full force at the Dutch bench and Messi for deliberately handling the ball while he was on a yellow. Anyway we move on. I can't wait for their game against Croatia, but first we have France-England  to enjoy.

Like Nigeria meeting Argentina over and over again. That's bad luck.

The funny thing is the Messi and Martinez heavily criticized the ref after the game. Martinez even called him useless. I see a fine or suspension coming his way by FIFA after the WC.

That game doesn’t count. :P
Brazil had already qualified for the next stage and used a sub team.
It may have cost them as resting the 1st team players against Cameroon may have taken the edge off the team.
