Excuses.

Its part of the strategy against passing teams like Spain. Long grass and not watering the pitch. The idea being to disrupt the fluency of the passing game against a team whose approach is based on establishing a rhythm

We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini. We used to think before then that if the other players are better, you have to lose. After that we learned anything is possible – you can beat better teams by using tactics." Jurgen Klopp

Indeed but alas in the sport of kings, when one switches to southpaw, the other shifts his feet and starts to watch the left. Spain should’ve adapted. Scotland are under no obligation to have Hampden stunt doubling as Kew Gardens so the Spaniards can ballamos. 2-nil clobbering.

How anyone still takes Spain's excuses seriously is beyond me. They should be embarrassed when they say id1otic things like this, but alas, football is full of man-children--old men who have zero braincells and behave like children, so its easy to tell them id10tic things and they will lap it up! I no go lie, some of the people I truly despise the most are football fans. They just talk and sound so dvmb most times, that i just have my face in my palm.

They should probably expect that by now, as long as ‘long grass’ is not illegal teams will apply that strategy against them.

Shouldnt teams complain about "short grass," as well?

Easy, Scotland are smart, they know how the Spaniards like to pass the ball on the turf and nutralised it by allowing the grass to grow long.
