Brentford must be absolutely furious with him. Can you imagine your star player getting suspended for 8 months, and you still have to pay him even though he is not working. He is probably the highest paid player at the club and will be earning a salary for sitting at home.

Brentford may even need to buy another striker to cover his absence.

Also he committed the offence with the previous club.

:rotf: Funny but if I was him I’ll lay low. Don’t bring unnecessary trouble to yourself.

Toney has been back for 2 games after his betting ban and is already causing trouble.

…and now the FA has charged West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta for allegedly getting booked deliberately in 4 separate games in order to influence betting on those games.

I wonder how Brentford feel about Toney’s departure. As their star and highest paid player, he got suspended for 8 months for betting violations (including betting on Brentford to lose in 13 different matches). The club stood by him and paid him to sit at home and not play for 8 months. He missed nearly half of last season, and after returning, left the club to go to Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 for 400K a week (net).

A lifetime ban?! 😳

I have never seen a football association seek such a severe punishment.

It’s alleged he (Paqueta) bet on games in which he was involved in. If found guilty, it’s the highest breach of integrity. It’s one thing to bet on other results and another to bet in games in which you can exert an influence to achieve the gambit. If convicted, he’s finished.

The craziest part is, the wagers were not the amount that would’ve allowed him to hang a Cuban cigar between pursed lips and kick back on the yacht as it cruises off into the sunset.

It’s obviously an addiction, the punishment is akin to breaking the butterfly on the wheel. Overkill. Would come as no surprise were he to cascade into a fervour of wagers and place his entirety on the river. He needs a heavy hand, but help at the same time.
