Not really. If you are psychologically prepared you'll not be psychologically broken down. Cameroon was just unprepared in almost all aspect of the game. The Goddess wrote:Chances will always be missed. They´re not in this predicament because that girl didnt score the goal. The reason why VAR is causing problems in FIFA tournaments is because FIFA doesn't understand the use of it. They are trying so hard to be unique with American technology but in the processing they are making a mole outta hill. Eventually they will get it right. They just have to study it some more.

What are you saying - Sir? Is what you said the reason we always get the bad end of the referees' calls?soothsayer wrote:It very clear what the problem is.. people wanting a free meal.
These other teams have formed leagues, play regularly. invest tons of money
from youth level , meanwhile we have teams from Africa doing last minute
get together. We get what we put in guys.

Just hope there are lessons learned from all African teams but most important the football authorities in Africa, you cannot bring half baked teams to these tournaments, their counterparts invest so much into women football like someone pointed out, you reap what you sow in life

No. Okay...I see you still don't understand that " with/without VAR the refs will still make the call." This means VAR WILL NOT ENABLE the refs to make the right calls. Re: Cameroon has been robbed
Valid point my man, VAR is being used for close calls , sometimes even VAR can't clear things up. It is still possible for a referee to make the wrong call.kolinzo wrote:No. Okay...I see you still don't understand that " with/without VAR the refs will still make the call." Correct. But I have come to realize that thiis investment is nothing but "time investment." If Africa must make some noise in like say...3 world cups from now...the 7 year olds and below must be playing competitive soccer by now (that goes for both male and female). But we don't have that time in Africa.marko wrote:Just hope there are lessons learned from all African teams but most important the football authorities in Africa, you cannot bring half baked teams to these tournaments, their counterparts invest so much into women football like someone pointed out, you reap what you sow in life

The rules are clear. Let me explain this.marko wrote:soothsayer wrote:What???? The Falcons player missed the ball & in that case the German player was available to then make a play on the ball which she could not because the German player was kicked preventing her to make a play on the ball.
In today's case, the England player had already passed the ball to her teammate who had the chance to score a score; hence no penalty. If the England player stepped on only moved the ball to continue to score a goal then it would have been a penalty.

Re: Cameroon has been robbed
Wrong, very wrong. It´s not like Cameroon has a superior team to england. Being the underdog, they had to psych up themselves and push themselves up to an equal level. Beating them down, is just very unfair.kolinzo wrote:Not really. If you are psychologically prepared you'll not be psychologically broken down. Absolutely correct, too much fire brigade approach, the Europeans will start planning as soon as this competition finishes, they have an advantage over African sides before a ball is even kickedkolinzo wrote:Correct. Re: Cameroon has been robbed
That is no reason to walk off. The coach DID THE RIGHT thing. Yes, the girls were demoralized and felt cheated. But reality is that the VAR was actually correct on all those calls even the second goal by England. If you took a look at England's goal, the Cameroon fightback kept the goal scorer insides. Let me also add that that opportunity to score that Cameron had saved by the keeper would have been rightly chalked off for offsides if she had scored. In that case, two players were clearly offside and one of them received the ball but the England goalie had it cleared.Goalgetter wrote:The Cameroonian players wanted to walkout and their stupid coach made stay and play. That was dumb from the coach. At that point they were psychologically done with this match and should have rightfully walked out in protest. That would have been effective in this age of social media and served as wake up call for FIFA.
Now, do I believe the VAR guys have always made the right call? Not at all. For instance, I felt the first German goal yesterday against Nigeria should have been canceled because a German girl, in an offsides position, interfered with the play. But on today's calls, no matter how frustrated we all were by the calls, they were the correct calls.
The difficulties of statistical thinking describes a puzzling limitation of our mind: our excessive confidence in what we believe we know, and our apparent inability to acknowledge the full extent of our ignorance and the uncertainty of the world we live in. We are prone to overestimate how much we understand about the world and to underestimate the role of chance in events -- Daniel Kahneman (2011), Winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics

I never said you did. But I said you are missing the fact that refs still make the calls no matter what the VAR shows them.
