Chelsea head of international scouts Scott McLachlan leaves club

Chelsea head of international scouts Scott McLachlan has left the Stamford Bridge club.

The move is said to have been a long-held ambition and the decision was taken on his terms. He is understood to be taking up an executive-level role elsewhere in football.

McLachlan is thought to be departing Chelsea with the club’s best wishes. He remains highly respected by the previous and current ownership.

His final day at Chelsea was on Friday. He is now on three months gardening leave.

He had been in his role since the beginning of the 2011-12 campaign and was an integral part of the recruitment operation across an extremely successful, if often tumultuous, period in Chelsea’s history.

Chelsea themselves are hoping to appoint a sporting director before the January transfer window.

McLachlan previously worked at Fulham as a technical scout. Before that, he was also head of performance analysis at Southampton.

Chelsea beat London rivals West Ham United 2-1 on Saturday and next face an away trip to Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday in the Champions League.

This became a controversy whether a foul or not.

Ahh West Ham, a complete d#$% of a club. They have taken advantage of that English refereeing mentality of allowing aggressive tackles reign. Ditto in the Spurs match, they were allowed to get away with murder due to poor refereeing and when Spurs players went in - foul. The media won't look at the above - it goes against their narrative. When idiots think it is ok to hack a man down because he did skill on the pitch, this is what you get.

Reece James penned a new 5-yr deal and option for 1 more year.
At 23, he would be one of the highest earning defenders at SB. About 250k/wk.

Congratulations to Reece.

Yeah, a fraud with a Champions League medal?
