AWCQ - Ghana in a precarious situation
AWCQ - Ghana in a precarious situation
They drew Ethiopia and now have to beat S Africa in Ghana by potentially a large margin to qualify.
S Africa has a +1 advantage (and equal on pts) over Ghana in GD with a home match vs Zimbabwe in hand. If they can beat Zimbabwe by two or more today, I believe it’s curtains for Ghana.

Ghana messed up big time today drawing in Addis! They will need to beat South Africa by 3-0 to qualify. I know they will be up for it!

We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini. We used to think before then that if the other players are better, you have to lose. After that we learned anything is possible – you can beat better teams by using tactics." Jurgen Klopp

If I understand the tiebreaker rules correctly, then Ghana only need to beat SA to qualify. A Ghana win:YUJAM wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 4:35 pm They drew Ethiopia and now have to beat S Africa in Ghana by potentially a large margin to qualify.

-- will put both teams on 13 pts
-- and assuming the win is a by a single goal margin, then both teams will have a GD of +4
-- but Ghana will have more goals scored (at least 7) compared to SA and thus nick it.
But again, that is if the tiebreaker stated here is accurate.

you are correct any victory will see Ghana through, even if they beat Ethiopia they would be in the same position needing a win to qualify.theDunamis wrote: ↑Fri Nov 12, 2021 4:12 amIf I understand the tiebreaker rules correctly, then Ghana only need to beat SA to qualify. You are right. The ESPN commentator misrepresented the situation and waylaid me in the process. A Ghana win should see them through

What about the Tunisia / Equatorial Guinea / Zambia group?
Eq. Guinea wins and is dead equal with Tunisia. Tunisia still looking good, but need to beat Zambia in final game and hope Eq. Guinea don't go on a goalscapade in their final game against Mauritania.

Seeds if Tunisia, Nigeria and Algeria don't crash out:
Senegal, Morocco, Tunisia, Nigeria, Algeria
vs
Cote d'Ivoire / Cameroon, Egypt, Ghana / South Africa, Mali, Benin / DRCongo
(Winner of Cote d'Ivoire / Cameroon will likely become the 6th seed in Africa, so if any of the Tunisia, Nigeria, Algeria fail Cote d'Ivoire will be a top seed. Zambia, Eq. Guinea, Burkina Faso and Cape Verde will be in second pot if they make it, making way for Cote d'Ivoire / Cameroon, Egypt, Ghana / South Africa).

Game to watch: Mauritania - Eq. Guinea, especially if the latter go on a scoring rampage.Undertaker wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 8:51 pm Morocco

What time is the Ghana vs South Africa game?

Re: AWCQ - Ghana in a precarious situation
Ghana doing the typical African thing, going for dribbles and hanging on to the ball instead of a quick pass,
long pass for short, and selfish attempts at goal instead of finding the open player.
Meanwhile South Africa is being cautious and waiting to the quick break, which they mess up by lingering on
the ball instead of making a quick transition.
