Ireland v Portugal

Post by Sheikh »

3 Nigerian lads starred for Ireland last night in the 0-0 draw against Portugal. Watched the full game.

Goalie Gavin Bazunu, and strikers Chiedozie Ogbene and Adam Idah. Rave Irish press reviews for all 3, particularly Bazunu and Ogbene. Ogbene gave the Portugal back line a torrid time throughout, especially in the second half.

Manager Stephen Kenny is building a solid side with tools he has. Goes to show how a good coach makes all the difference, not stars (Portugal had Ronaldo, Danilo, Pepe, Fernandez, Sanches, Semedo, Felix - they were all there). Brings out the stark reality that our coach is quite below par and is virtually holding SE down.

Didn’t our coach draw with Brazil and beat Argentina recently with our average players?

Over 2 years ago in meaningless games, and then downhill since then.

Tolerance of sheer incompetence (I see you also support Buhari) and glorification of mediocrity are key reasons for our sorry state as a country.

There'll be more turning out for Ireland. I know a few who are at academies at the moment.

Liverpool, European Champions 2005.

We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini. We used to think before then that if the other players are better, you have to lose. After that we learned anything is possible – you can beat better teams by using tactics." Jurgen Klopp
