[pre WC friendly] Croatia - Senegal (Senegal destroyed Croatia with wing play)

Post by Scipio Africanus »

Although Croatia won the game, Senegal smoked them on the wings again and again and again. Poor finishing cost them the game. One wonders if Groundnut **** even watched this game. Wing play was the way to go against a team like Croatia at the WC, but you have to have good crossers and sharp strikers to make it count.

Hmmm.... did Groundnut **** have the good crossers and sharp strikers?

Debatable, but by the laws of statistics wing play was the way to go. The more opportunities created, the more likely a goal will happen.

Well, maybe the coach didn't think he had the personnel to execute wing play?

An erroneous belief. Hence why his name is Groundnut ****

You thought right but you missed the part about the laws of statistics. If you need it explained to you don’t be afraid to ask

Well, explain it then because the way I see, if we were to throw a coin, .... heads you fly from Lagos to London, tails you sail by ship. But there are no capable pilots because of a strike.
Why not just sail to London instead?

Let's keep it to the domain of soccer. I know you don't like the game but please bear with me for a second.

Seriously doubt they play like this in the next WC should they qualify.

Was way too open. Could easily have been down by two within ten minutes of the game...

Liverpool, European Champions 2005.

We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini. We used to think before then that if the other players are better, you have to lose. After that we learned anything is possible – you can beat better teams by using tactics." Jurgen Klopp
