Did Song settle his beef with Samuel Eto'o, the new FECAFOOT boss?

Rigobert Song named Cameroon Indomitable Lions Coach
by Ismael Kiyonga March 1, 2022

Cameroon has named former Captain Rigobert Song as their new head coach replacing Toni Conceicao.

The 45-year old Conceicao guided the Indomitable Lions to bronze at the recently concluded Total Africa Cup of Nations but that was not enough according to the FA and government.

A statement said Cameroon needed “a new breath”.

“On very high instructions from the President of the Republic, the coach of the men’s national football team, Mr Antonio Conceicao, has been replaced by Rigobert Song,” Cameroon’s sports minister Narcisse Mouelle Kombi said.

“The Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) is invited to take the necessary measures for a rapid and harmonious implementation of these very high directives.”

Song, the most capped Cameroon player with 137 caps also won the 2000 and 2002 Africa Cup of Nations titles.

As player, he played at Liverpool and Westham United in England but also had stints in France, Turkey, Germany and Italy during his illustrious career.

His coaching experience includes handling Central African Republic :) and most recently the Cameroon U-21 side.

lovely.. Let African Teams use local coaches.. The last winners of AFCON have been mostly Africans.. the last two were won by African coaches. Egypt even won it 3 times with a local coach

I just laughed out loud! :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

Eto'o should resign and leave their football for them. Shameless people.

If its go give "high instruction" to improve education, health, infrastructure, finance or agriculture... they wont know how to give that "high instruction." But its in football that their nipple will be scratching them. Ba5t4rdss!!

Hmm... that Cameroon team that outplayed Egypt (and was unlucky to lose on penalties) was good enough to beat Algeria in the World Cup playoffs. Why meddle with things at this late stage?

Now, I make Algeria the favourites to go through.

If the FA refused to implement the "very high instructions", then there is nothing the "very high up person" can do because the FA is supposed to be independent of govt. They might not be out the FIFA sanctions woods yet should somebody choose to file a complaint.

The entire national team of Cameroon is now in the hands of un-educated buffoons. Cameroon has former footballers like Omam Biyik and Patrick Mboma with coaching diplomas. Eto'o picked someone from his tribe because that is how Cameroon functions today which why the country is in a 90deg decline.

Are you sure these two are from the same tribe?
For a long time, there was a major rift in the Lion's team between Eto'o guys and Song guys.
These two guys only made up (publicly) recently before the FECAFOOT elections.

Yes, Sir. They are.
True they did not get along at some point because Eto'o wanted to be the captain of the team and he needed to force Song out. They buried the hatchet when Eto'o wanted to run as the head of FECAFOOT.

This is not a very good conclusion joplass. All the so called educated people who ran fecafoot before didnt do nada. Mismanagement was the order of the day. Let´s give a chance to these so called uneducated mugus and see what they do. Atleast, they went to the school of football, played the game at the highest level and should consequently understand the environment better.

What a joke!
The "president" of the republic = Eto. Thats how powerful the guy has become. This so called president of 90 years cant rule anymore. If you have a parent or grandparent who´s 90 of age, you can understand that their faculties cant be functioning very well and other people will be pulling the strings behind the scene.

The main people ruling Cameroon today are Chantal Biya and Ngoh Ngoh, the secretary general. Eto is like an adoptiv Son to Chantal. Some years back, it was even rumoured that Chantal wanted Eto to marry the daughter Brenda, no smoke without fire. Which means, Eto has the backing of the presidency.

Before the nomination of Song came out, the minister of Sports ran to the TV and stated that Conceicao was to continue as coach. He explained that Conceicao has a good report-which is true- and that we are too close to the play offs to change the coach- which was also true. But, its not the place of the minister to nominate or dismiss a coach so Eto calmly reminded him of paragraph xxx in article xxx of constitution xxx that the rights of the coach are reserved for the Fecafoot president only. That meant an open war had been launched and only the greatest patron in power could resolve the issue. This greatest patron who backs Eto at 110%. So Conceicao was fired and the minister who was trying to do arm wrestling was forced to sign the termination letter. What a humiliation!!

Furthermore, we all know although Song and Eto are from the same tribe, they were are logger heads for quite a number of years, but when it comes to politics and power, enemies become friends and frineds enemies. Song assisted Eto in his campaign to become Fecafoot president and had to be compensated somehow. His record as a trainer in the junior team is extremely mediocre. He trained both the U-23 and local team and both times, they didnt leave their groups in their respective competitions. There should definitely be better Cameroonian coaches but Eto has a plan. He has employed one of Claude Leroys Sons (Minge sp) to act as the adjoint trainer. So, Song will just be there to detect and recruit players while Minge will coach them and set up the team.

Another reason for the nomination of Song could just be that, these guys are trying to make the 2002 disaster right. They had a team capable of reaching the semi finals but crashed out in the first round. In this new team, you guys like R. Song, Kalla Nkongo, Simo Augustine, Souleymanou making a return

He calls her "ma petite Soeur" but you who knows? I hear his sexual desire as a player was insatiable. He calls Biya "Papa", Chantal "Mama", calls the president of Gabon " mon grand frere". He knows how to get powerful people behind him.

The guy he defeated to become the fecafoot president is from a powerful family. His dad was Paul Biyas generation and friend, and was also president of fecafoot in the 60s, later minister of sports in the 80-90s. So, if Eto could defeat such a person in Cameroon where nepotism reigns, it shows he´s really powerful.
