All African teams playing friendlies in Europe today were mercilessly spanked. Hm! World Cup dey fear me o! I only trust Senegal and to a lesser extent Morocco.

I would hope some of the top teams in Europe could beat teams who didn't even make the last ten of qualifying. I fail to see what is to fear from those results but could be just me.

Whilst the elected candidate for continental representation remains the capricious variable, elimination and home long before bedtime will remain the indefatigable constant. Fortunately FIFA is intent on turning the WC into a gargantuan monstrosity else Africa’s allocation may come under scrutiny. In all fairness, that of every continent and their subsections should! None more so than Europe.

That being said, was there any surprise in any of the results? The gap widens by the day. Africa simply can’t compete. Football is an industry in Europe and a sport in Africa.
