Former Ghana international, John Paintsil has backed the Black Stars to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this year.
Paintsil said this after Ghana defeated the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a World Cup playoff on Tuesday in Abuja.
DAILY POST reports that Ghana defeated Nigeria to qualify for the World Cup by away goal.
The match between Nigeria and Ghana ended 1-1 at the MKO Abiola Stadium, thanks to Thomas Partey’s strike and William Troost-Ekong’s penalty.
Both countries had played a 0-0 draw in the first leg last week in Kumasi.
And Painstil believes the current Black Stars can win both the World Cup and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.
“Ghana can win the World Cup,” Painstil told SuperSport.
“If this team is kept for long, they can win the African Cup of Nations and the World Cup,” he added.
