Kamaldeen Sulemana Watch (Klopp to Mop)

Another Ghanaian star in the making

Kamaldeen Sulemana named in Europa League Team of the Week
Ghana winger Kamaldeen Sulemana has been named in the Europa League Team of the Week.

The 21-year-old starred as Stade Rennais travelled to Cyprus to beat AEK Larnaca, earning him a place in the best eleven of the week.

Sulemana provided a brace of assist to help Rennais to a 2-1 victory in Larnaca on Thursday night.

The talented winger served Arthur Theate with a sumptuous pass for the opener on the half hour mark, but the hosts quickly responded through Oier in the 33rd minute.

The Black Stars winger was unplayable on the flanks and with the game headed for a draw, he created the winner, which was scored by Lorenz Assignon in the 94th minute.

Kamaldeen Sulemena lasted the entire duration and he is expected to maintain his starting role on Sunday when Rennes face AJ Auxerre in Ligue 1.

He has now made seven appearances this season, providing two assists, and he is yet to open his goal scoring account.

Liverpool sent another transfer reminder of ideal Sadio Mané heir who is 'like Kylian Mbappé'

An ideal heir to Sadio Mané who has been compared to Kylian Mbappé has been catching the eye again, sending Liverpool a clear transfer message in the process.

Liverpool haven't really felt the repercussions of Sadio Mané's departure since he left Anfield for pastures new. The man who came to replace him, Luis Díaz, has been a revelation, and arguably Liverpool's best player so far this season.

But that doesn't mean Liverpool shouldn't be considering another similar option to Mané. After all, some of the best football the Reds played last season was with a front three that included both Díaz and the Senegalese international.

Considering the likes of Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino both departed the club, it's clear Liverpool could do with another attacker.

That argument is especially compelling in the case a player who is five years younger even than Díaz — someone who may not just become Mané's heir, but also replace the Colombian in the distant future.

Liverpool have been linked with Kamaldeen Sulemana in the past, and he is a player who certainly fits the mould of the quintessential attacker Jürgen Klopp likes to have in his team. He boasts the speed and directness that was a huge feature of Mané's style of play, and which now forms a big part of Díaz's profile too.

Sulemana has also previously been compared to Kylian Mbappe.

But this season, having recovered from that injury, it seems like he has kicked on another gear, and his recent performances have certainly sent Julian Ward a pertinent transfer reminder.

Sulemana has scored one goal and registered two assists in his last two games for Rennes, and looks back to his best form after starting the last four games following his return from injury.

His speed and directness was on show for both his goal and his assists in the last week, as well as his tendency to cut in — just like Mané used to do back at Anfield. With the World Cup on the horizon, if he keeps his performances up, he is certainly a player worth monitoring.

"If you've not seen Kamaldeen Sulemana, then just think about Kylian Mbappé," African football writer Gary Al-Smith told the BBC back in March.

"He is not as refined as Kylian Mbappé now, but let's take it step by step. What do we like about Kylian Mbappé? His electric pace. Check, Kamaldeen has that.

"His unpredictable turn of pace or turn of expression. That is what Kamaldeen has as well. Kamaldeen probably has a few more tricks than Kylian, and he needs to hone that in terms of the way he turns players inside out.

"He is raw and that is why Rennes was one of the better places for him to go."

Sulemana had an impressive debut season in France. But it was curtailed by a niggling injury which meant he hasn't really been able to spread his wings properly.

Ghana whizzkid Kamaldeen Sulemana selected in Ligue 1 Fans' Team of the week

Ghana youngster Kamaldeen Sulemana has been named in the French Ligue 1 Fans' Team of the week following his impressive display for Stade Rennes last weekend.

Sulemana netted his first goal of the season as he helped Rennes to whitewash newly-promoted AJ Auxerre last Sunday.

The 20-year-old forward scored the opening goal of the match as early as the 3rd minute with a sublime finish after unleashing a perfect low shot which went in off the right post.

Sulemana's strike was the difference at the break but Rennes scored four goals in the second half to claim a resounding 5-0 victory in the end.

Amine Gouiri, Martin Terrier, Flavien Tait and Mathis Abline were the goal scorers for the Bruno Genesio's side at the Roazhon Park.

The highly-rated footballer was named in the UEFA Europa League team of the week last week after providing two assists in Rennais' 2-1 win over Omonia Nicosia in Cyprus.

Austria-born Ghanaian defender Kevin Danso was also voted by the Ligue 1 fans to make the best eleven of round 7.

Sulemana has a goal in 7 appearances so far in the French top division this campaign.

sorry but he's got long way to. Football is a team sport and not trying to dribble everyone with your head low. Kudus sometimes plays like that and the two are beginning to piss me off. Bukayo Saka is barely 20 but he plays like he is already 27.
