Bayern just issued a statement that said further tests are being carried out. Some hope for Senegal I guess

However, the German club’s assistant coach Dino Toppmoeller said on Tuesday that the injury is not “too serious” and the Senegal international should be fit in time for the tournament that kicks off on November 20.

The former Liverpool player went directly down the tunnel for further treatment.

The forward will be key to the West African nation’s hopes at the World Cup, where they face the Netherlands in their Group A opener on November 21, followed by hosts Qatar and then Ecuador.

It's not the Winter World Cup, it's European leagues who refused to adjust their schedules because the world must work according to their schedule.

Do you also blame AFCON when players get injured in December/January?

SENEGAL TO UTILISE WITCH DOCTORS TO TREAT SADIO MANÉ INJURY

In an exclusive interview with Europe 1, Fatma Samoura, the Senegalese FIFA General Secretary has said that Senegal will use witch doctors in order to ensure Sadio Mané’s (30) participation in the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

Mané sustained a tendon injury during Bayern Munich’s game against Werder Bremen earlier this week The Senegalese forward was withdrawn with just 20 minutes on the clock. The next day, the severity of the injury was revealed by L’Equipe, with Goal adding that the former Liverpool player was expected to be absent for up to a month.

However, RMC have since said that Mané could yet participate in the World Cup, with sources also telling AFP that he will make Aliou Cissé’s Senegal squad, which will be announced on Friday.

Samoura has now revealed the lengths that Senegal will go to to ensure Mané’s participation in the World Cup, which begins in just over a week. “We are going to use witch doctors,” she said. Questioned on their efficacy, she responded, “I don’t know (if they’re effective) but in this instance, we’re going to use them anyway. We are hoping for miracles. He has to be there!”

It is not the first time in recent weeks that the topic of witch doctors has seeped into the sporting world. Paul Pogba’s use of witch doctors is at the heart of the Pogba blackmail scandal, which implicates Paul’s brother, Mathias, in an alleged blackmail plot. Mathias claims that his brother used a witch doctor to curse international teammate Kylian Mbappé ahead of Manchester United’s clash against Paris Saint-Germain in 2019.

Demba Ba moved to stem reaction to Samoura’s comments by stating that the word ‘marabout’ is used to denote a Muslim preacher and not a witch doctor.

Senegal’s first match of the World Cup is on the 21st November against the Netherlands, with the current champions of Africa hoping to go deep into the tournament.

If the witch doctor can make Mane better, they might as well increase their payment to him and ask him to win the World Cup for them.

Senegal forward Sadio Mane has been ruled out of the World Cup as he requires surgery on a knee injury he sustained playing for Bayern Munich.

On Tuesday, Senegal's football federation said Mane, 30, would miss their "first games" at the tournament.

But a further MRI scan was completed on Thursday that showed surgical intervention is needed.

Mane was forced off during Bayern's Bundesliga win over Werder Bremen on 8 November.

Senegal start their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on Monday. The West Africans are in Group A with games against hosts Qatar (25 November) and Ecuador (29 November) to follow.

Two-time African Footballer of the Year Mane is Senegal's talisman, having scored the winning penalty when the Teranga Lions became continental champions for the first time in February, defeating Egypt in a shoot-out in the Africa Cup of Nations final.

Within two months Mane had repeated the feat, netting the decisive spot-kick as Senegal beat Egypt - in a game that again pitted him against then Liverpool team-mate Mohamed Salah - on penalties in a play-off to qualify for Qatar.

Oooooh, that explains it. Though I have NOT watched many of the games, I was wondering why he wasn't playing today in their game against Ecuador.

Professor Rawlings,

I am NOT watching because of multiple wahalas, bro. In general I am NOT motivated to watch the games, except a few. In this Senegal's game, I was enjoying it at first, but somehow, I became 'shaky' and fearful for Senegal as the game progressed, especially during the last 15 minutes of the game. I wanted Senegal to win so bad and they did. I am happy for them and for Africa.
