Argentina legend Lionel Messi will join American side Inter Miami after his exit from French champions Paris St-Germain.

The former Barcelona forward is set to reject a more lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal.

The Miami deal includes collaboration from brands like Adidas and Apple.

Messi, 35, won the Ballon d'Or award for the world's best player seven times and is expected to win it later this year after World Cup success.

This is the first time Barcelona icon Messi has played outside Europe.

He wanted to remain in Europe for another season but, after no satisfactory offers were received, he had the straight choice between Inter Miami or Al-Hilal.

He was heavily tipped to be favouring a move to Saudi Arabia, where he would have joined Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in the league in a deal that could not be matched financially.

But Messi was ultimately tempted to Major League Soccer (MLS) side Inter Miami for a variety of reasons including lifestyle, and a deal with big brands that extends beyond football.

He already owns a house in Miami, which he rents out.

He was keen on a return to Barcelona this summer but the Financial Fair Play (FFP) limitations that will be in place for next season in La Liga made any ambitious plan to bring him back an impossibility.

Paris St-Germain won Ligue 1 in both his seasons at the club but went out in the Champions League last 16, which means his time in France was not seen as a huge success.

He netted 32 goals in 75 games for the club - and ended this season with 16 goals and 16 assists in Ligue 1.

Messi's two-year contract comes to an end this summer and both parties agreed to go their separate ways, with the forward suspended for two weeks in May for an unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia.

His legacy comes from his time at Barcelona and winning the World Cup with Argentina in December.

He left Barca in 2021, after 21 years with the club, because of the club's financial problems.

Messi is Barcelona's record scorer with 672 goals and won 10 La Liga titles, four Champions Leagues and seven Spanish Cups.

He is such a pathetic loser! Failed heavily in France when he didnt have the comfort of Barca to save him. Leaving France an abject failure, he panicked and rant to MLS    He didnt want to go to Saudi, because he was afraid of all the players that were going there and the fact that Ronaldo will upstage him. He also panicked and ran away from going back to Barca, because he knows he is finished! Look at his face, making excuses at the presser.  What a loser. He will always be known for failing in France and the same will happen to him in MLS

Miami, beaches, bikinis and all the pork in the pigsty. Tis said, by the arbitrary and absolutely asinine metrics of the Gen Zedites, Thingybob Paul beat Floyd based on the sheer weight of him not being concussed or worse. Much like Mayweather, having climbed the throne, donned the crown and reduced the insignificant other to court jester, what’s left to do but exhibitions.

Game. Clocked. Ronny still has one more crack at the World Cup perhaps.

if you believe this was the Loser's reason, I have a bridge to sell you inside Maceo's buttocks. :woot: :rotf:

You should look at the terms of the contract and your eye go clear! The loser went for money and safety. :rotf: :rotf:

There is no way MLS/Adidas/Apple and Mas offered him more than the PIF did.

Messi probably moved for family reasons. He already has a house in Florida.
The guy already has more money that he needs. The sponsorship deals are a bonus.

There are many players that football made famous and then there are players who made football famous. We all know in which category Messi falls. :-)

Some people look at deals based on what they get today, others (investors) calculate deals based on "the life of the deal." Dey there! Look at David Beckham's MLS deal. His deal included an MLS Franchise which is now worth 1 billion dollars and the "life of the deal is 16 years and counting.

The PSG Failure also has the same clause in his contract. What The Failure will make during the "life of the deal," is more than what the PIF people are paying all their recruits, combined.

Inter Miami is not worth a billion dollars I can tell you that and any potential new teams will not be in a city more valuable than Miami. All major city pretty much already have teams and none of them are getting second teams.
