AFCON is about To Get more Interesting.

Post by Kabalega »

Kai, see the games coming up. :D
Zambia vs DRC. Avram Grant vs De Sabre should be interesting.

CIV vs Nigeria :D I don’t think I’ll be able to logon to CE after this one.
Egypt vs a desperate Ghana
Cape Verde vs Mozambique (who made this draw?)
Senegal vs Cameroon (Cameroon could have one foot out of the tournament after this game. They will probably sneak into the next round at the last minute)
Algeria vs Burkina Faso
Even Guinea vs Gambia has the potential to serve us a fun game.
Desperate Tunisia vs Mali (Tunisia could be heading home after this one.
Desperate S. Africa vs Namibia (a loss could send S.A home. The Nambians would be glad to help them board their flight).
Morocco vs DRC. :D
DRC could be out if they lose this one and the Zambia game.

The quality of football is also a step above the usual level.
Is it the better pitches and organization?
Don’t know.
All I know is, we are about to witness scenes we have not see lately.

Some interesting games for sure. And you are right about the quality of football. I think teams are just more organized especially in defense

There is unquestionable parity in African football and that has been the case for quite some time now. It’s just that some fans on CE choose to languish in the past with the outdated idea of minnows. No such thing at AFCON. True minnows would not qualify for AFCON; not anymore🤔❗️

Cheers.

Unlike places where the government uses the game to appease the people, some countries don’t care for AFCON because the reward is not worth it for them.

Kenya should be a powerhouse in football. I have been there and they love the sport. I honestly don't know what's up.

Guys can we stay on topic? Let’s enjoy AFCON.

CIV has raised the bar. When was the last time we saw these kind of pitches at AFCON?
Almost no complaint of empty stadia either.

The referees have so far stayed out of the headlines.
For the most part, the players have put on a show.
Even BEIN Sports, staff have stepped up, well, except for “our” color commentator.
After the second round of games, it looks like Ghana is heading for the departures lounge. Cameroon is not out of the woods yet. If I were them, I would scrutinize the S. Africa vs Namibia game. :D

Who imagined that Cape Verde would be sitting comfortably at the top of their group?

What next? The final round of games is bound to be even more fun.
Will the mighty 9ja, park the bus all the way to bronze?
Will Cameroon, sneak in at the last minute again?
Which “minnow” will shock the world this time? Maybe, Tanzania? :D
Exciting games ahead for sure.

If the group games are this much fun, I can only wonder what the quarters and semis will server us. :D

For some reason, my posts disappeared into the ether. Maybe the timing was too close to BigP’s posts.
Anyway, how bodi? Is it my eyes, or did I imagine seeing at least, 4 positive posts about Paseiro on EN?
It’s unbelievable what one (1) penalty can do. :D

Well, it might be as you say it is [penalty], but we will take it with pride because we earned the awarded penalty and we won.

As to coach Peseiro, I have nothing to say on that. The same people who were calling for his head are now singing his praises. I wonder what else they will say of the coach if the opposite occurs.

At the end of the day, it’s the 3 points that matter and of course, …. Paseiro for president! :)
As for his ultimate fate, we all so what happened to Big boss after he won in 2013. Some still called for his head. :???:
Tinubu may have to step in personally to cool matters.
