Re: Real Madrid vs Bayern
What did the ref do? Was it that he blew his whistle when the linesman indicated offside or something else?

Re: Real Madrid vs Bayern
Tuchel messed up by subbing off 3 of his key players too early. He must have forgotten who he was playing against.
Wha choo looking at?!

Problem was the AR. It did not look offside
And the AR seems like he knew he messed up as he stayed back to explain himself to the players...

We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini. We used to think before then that if the other players are better, you have to lose. After that we learned anything is possible – you can beat better teams by using tactics." Jurgen Klopp

After the whistle blew, the Real players stopped playing as would be expected. No way that goal would be allowed

Re: Real Madrid vs Bayern
Exactly! That I completely agree with. The referee saw a flag up and he blew his whistle for offside. The AR was the one who messed up big time and should have let the play sequence complete before raising his flag.

This is the mentality that I want the SE to have, but with our fans and our loser culture, not gonna happen.

Yup! Once the referee blew the whistle, the decision was made! You cant go back from that.

Two titans locked in the grips of war. Europe in its entirety to the victor, twas of no surprise both turned to the Potteries. Ancelotti, Stoke’s own Jim Joselu and Thomas, Eric from much the same. Only one called the Prof to be sure of the deployment and with that the die was cast.

A monumental error by the officiating crew...

Re: Real Madrid vs Bayern
That's harsh. Tuchel's game management decisions played a bigger role in Bayern's loss in the dying minutes.
Also, if the AR had not misled the ref and no whistle was blown, Madrid's defense would not have switched off thus a Bayern goal was not a guarantee.

...all was going well, officials-wise, until that last minute snafu by the linesman raising his flag that quick.
Whatever happen to let the flow continue if a goal then review it.
Could have been a draw and penalties.

Una funny well well, RM stopped playing as soon as the flag went up and ref blew , if they had not stopped playing what was the guarantee Bayern scores ? Make una leave stone chop rice , RM get winning coded into their DNA .

That is what I find amusing. This assumption that Bayern scoring was somehow a guarantee if the Madrid defense had not switched off when the ref blew his whistle.

For all the intricacies of the modern game, the master key remains, when it matters most, get the ball out wide to the whippet and have him fly at the fullback. As it was in the age of Andrei Kanchelskis, so it shall be henceforth. Yes, there’s some body work done on the inside, a few leading lefts thrown here and there, all purely to open up the guard up for the haymaker.
How Dortmund played Mbappe off the pitch is a lightyear ahead of what Bayern did with Vinicius. Kimmich, as cerebral a player as he is, dizzied by the dribbles, lost all composure and competence in playing his man. Sane watched on in admiration. Did Kim make the flank any less porous?
What was blindingly obvious was how far Bayern have fallen behind the pack. There was a time when their bench would offer up some impact. The substitutions were as close to a waving of the white flag as possible. At a time when the game was moving at 4000mph, Tuchel threw on George and Mildred. Game. Set. Match.
The Gods have decreed, it shall be the krauts and the Spaniards crossing under the arches. The West London headhunters and QPR lot will give them a good old English welcome.

What do you mean? You think professionals who have proven year-in-year-out that they are at the top of their game would switch off and not defend in their box? You think this is Omeruo and Awaziem?mcal wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 10:21 pm...never say never.theDunamis wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 10:17 pm

I thought Bayern controlled the vast majority of the game with Pavlovic in the deep role.
Unfair to compare with the Dortmund game. Two different approaches to defense, although BVB had much more legs.
Bayern were happy to defend the center and allow the 1v1 with Vini and use MDL as the covering defender. Remember they could not play Goretzka...
BVB on the contrary squeezed the supply line to Mbappe before then collapsing around him. They had the legs to do it...

Never forget the Royals of Madrid, the Kings of the Champions League. They are the Real Deal. I am loving it. Harry Kane, whom the useless Engrish commentators were wanking over, will once again get nating. Sweet nating.
Re: Real Madrid vs Bayern
Coachito nwokem, don't you know that Ogbunigwe does not win wars? HarryKane of the Hammers (your Roy of the Rovers ) once again wins a big fat NOTHING as he is wont to do.
Re: Real Madrid vs Bayern
@Mazi, au contraire mon frere. Brigadier Bombs away Harrison Ogbunigwe done exactly as asked. “We” didn’t want a Munich Putsch on our Beloved Wembley Way. They’ve tried it once before and had 7 bells knocked out of them. On land, sea and sky.
Madrid are more than welcome, they know how their bread’s buttered. Championship Jude Bellingham, Prof Pulis’ very own Jim Joselu, an ode to the Gods of old. Ye shall pass and pass they did.
If the Royal establishment know what’s good for them, they’ll make a stopover in Argyle and go all in for Plymouth’s Morgan Reece Whittaker. Championship stardust. 27 goal involvements in a full campaign. Another Jude “King of Madrid” Bellingham in disguise.

Re: Real Madrid vs Bayern
The center referee has the final say. The AR can raise or wave their flag all they want. The Center ref can ignore it and should have done so here.
The same ref mistakenly blew the whistle for offside when Real Madrid scored the second goal.
If this is the best European officiating crew then, UEFA and FIFA have a problem. They should borrow some CAF officials to help out.
Both ruined the game and gave it to Madrid
