The players have big personalities and character but the footie on the ground was not that good. The current teams with average players will run rings around the old-schoolers.

I regret rewatching this game because it ruined my romantic view of the EPL "Legends."

That great Arsenal side called the "Invincibles" was on the decline here, while ManU was on the cusp of a resurgence with the likes of Rooney. This was the last trophy Arsenal won for about nine years or so, so it makes sense that the football wasn't great.

Thanks for this context. It explains a lot. For example, I was wondering why Fergie was in a positive mood at the end. His project was on the right track.

I shouldn't be comparing this generation to the current one because it is not fair to the old folks (some of whom look malnourished). :lol:
So many parameters improved greatly. However, ManU was not well prepared for the penas.
