Samu Omorodion was set to join Chelsea on a long-term deal

Samu Omorodion reportedly feels that Chelsea ‘disrespected him’ as the reason for his collapsed move to Stamford Bridge emerges.

The Blues were set to sign the striker on a long-term contract this week, with the forward already completing his medical with the club.

However, the deal has now broken down in catastrophic fashion in a major hiccup which will impact both sides’ transfer business as other transfers hinge on the move.

According to El Chiringuito TV, Omorodion was keen to join Chelsea before Enzo Maresca’s side attempted to buy 50 per cent of the forward’s rights. The 20-year-old was somewhat insulted by the proposal and felt it was a sign of ‘disrespect’.

As a result, the deal collapsed immediately as Omorodion decided that he would not join the Blues this summer.

Atletico Madrid and Chelsea have now both been forced back into negotiations as the transfer was being completed in parallel to Conor Gallagher’s move to the La Liga giants. The England international’s move is in jeopardy, having already been informed that he would only have a bit-part role next season if he remained with his boyhood side.

The Blues are being forced to reconsider who they are willing to sign from Atletico to ensure that a second deal does not collapse, with Joao Felix being at the heart of those conversations.

The Portugal international spent the second half of the 2022/23 campaign with the Blues on loan whilst Mauricio Pochettino was in charge, and the versatile forward is keen to return to Stamford Bridge if an agreement is reached.

Omorodion may still have the chance to highlight why Chelsea were, in his eyes, wrong to test their luck by buying his rights. A move to the Premier League is still on the cards for the striker, with Bournemouth reportedly eyeing a move for the Spain Under-23 international.

The Cherries are in the market for a striker to replace Dominic Solanke, who has joined Tottenham in a deal worth £65million. Though the Vitality Stadium outfit aren’t the only side hoping to pounce upon the situation, with Bayer Leverkusen, Villarreal and Real Betis also in the frame and hoping to secure the signature of the Atletico star.

For those in the know, Is it unheard of for clubs to want 50% of a player's image rights?
How did Chelsea sign so many players and getting them to agree personal terms? Or is this a case of wanting to exploit Omorodion? With a sense of responsibility, Chelsea has several talented players on their hands. So how is Omorodion's case different?

If both get back on the negotiation table, he can work out a better split of the face contract.
