Four Observations from Bayern Munich’s season finale 4-0 win over TSG Hoffenheim

Bayern Munich wrapped up a successful Bundesliga season in top form.

Bayern Munich wrapped up Vincent Kompany’s first season relatively quietly. In a calm match, Bayern Munich outperformed a disfunctional TSG Hoffenheim side to finish off an excellent campaign for the Bavarians. While Bayern Munich didn’t break their own goalscoring record, there were lots to be happy about.
Michael Olise is the future of Bayern

While Florian Wirtz, is on the top of everyone’s mind at the moment, Bayern Munich already acquired their superstar last season. Olise has been nothing short of spectacular this season. While there has been criticism of his final product and wastefulness at times, this criticism is simply not warranted considering just how good the young Frenchman has been in his rookie season. Arguably the best player in the Bundesliga this season. The former Crystal Palace man has all the potential to be the face of Bayern for years to come.
Tom Bischof will be a welcome addition

It is always difficult to shine brightly for a relegation side, but Bischof has shown flashes of greatness all season. Bischof set up his teammate for what would have been an excellent goal with an incredible through ball, but was let down by his team. Harry Kane won’t waste those opportunities next season.
Kompany’s first season was a success

Like it or not, Vincent Kompany accomplished enough in his first season in Munich to be considered a success. Unlucky injuries costed Bayern Munich the Champions League matches against Inter Milan and an untimely red card saw Bayern Munich bow out of the DFB Pokal. The future is bright with Kompany. It is understandable to be disappointed with the outcome, but all signs are positive moving forward.
Oliver Baumann’s struggles

Oliver Baumann deservedly won the role as Germany’s starting goalkeeper in the past months. However, Hoffenheim will have now conceded the second most out of all Bundesliga teams this season after this match. How much can be attributed on sloppy defense and is it time to re-consider whether Baumann is really the man for the job? 4 goals today from Bayern’s xG of 1.05. Ouch. Perhaps it is time for the unfit Marc-Andre Ter Stegen to take back the reigns.
