Nice one for the lad, Rosenborg has been the best team in Norway for years now.

Saw the match this evening. Edu was apointed Man-of-the-match. He is outstanding. Creative, alert and wise in his play. An impressive and good representative for his country. We love him in Lyn Oslo! :D 8-)
Engelske søndagsaviser skrev i fjor at Arsenal ville kjøpe nigerianeren for 20 millioner kroner.

A sort of translation:
British Sunday newspapers wrote last year that Arsenal wanted to buy the Nigerian for £ 1.6 million. Several other football clubs has also been mentioned as "Edu's" next club, and after one opportunistic and one incredible goal against Rosenborg, there is nothing that can stop him from leaving Lyn.

Arsenal, Tottenham and Celtic were on the stands to watch him in the match against Rosenborg on monday night.

"Today he is very good, and on the same level as he was when playing for us last fall. But no clubs buy a player after one good match", Henning Berg says (the manager of Lyn).

The Lyn manager surely knows that Edu has played well in several matches now. And it has been important for all the 7 points Lyn has achieved in the last three tough games against Brann, Vålerenga and Rosenborg.

A very short interview with Edu here:

Edu: It's not about me, it's about the team.
Why you?

I have a strong feeling that when all is said and done this boy will have more to show for his football career than Mikel.

His attitude, discipline and temperament are spot on. He is a class act and in the hands of someone like Wenger, he will make massive strides. I really wish him all the best.

Cheers

Worrahell is wrong with you guys ? Mikel is already starting for the best team in the World . Ogbuke no even start yet ! PS : I'm a big Edu fan and knows he owns that SE wide right / 7 spot.

Maybe you need a comprehension class...it's all about opportunity and you better believe Mikel has benefitted from a lot of hype..

i dont necessarily agree. Jose saw him close up ad wanted him immediately. the hype seemed to have come after that fact. for me, Ogbuke should not smell the national team until he tests himself in a top league. all this backyard football is unacceptable

My brother, Mikel may have gotten big headed now, but no player on the U17 team was better than him. He was the best, and if he gets his act together will be one of Nigeria's best. Ogbuke is good, no doubt, but he is not in Mikel's class as a player.

Plus, their is an assumption that SAF and Mouro didn't know what they were doing when they let Edu go and went after Obi. They had em both in camp for months. Both at Man U and at Chelski. Before all the hype.

One of the supporters of Lyn, who usually lives and works in the US, is home in Oslo for the summer. During the night shift in his summer job he has sertainly had some spare time after the match, and written this open letter. We all agree:

I just watched you play against Rosenborg and would like to express my appreciation for you and your contributions to the team. Forgive me if this becomes a bit awkward - I don’t write much fan mail.

First of all, I want to thank you for your contributions to the team. Yes, there’s the goals you score, and most of them are very pretty (of course, any Lyn goal is pretty by definition). But the really cool thing about having you on the field is the excitement you bring. It’s not just the goals - it’s the constant possibility of goals. Every time you touch the ball, it’s exciting. (And every time some *kindperson* knocks you down, it’s terrifying). You pull off things that most players can’t even imagine. For example last year’s goal against Molde. Shooting with your back to the goal...? What the hell were you thinking? Don’t you know that kind of $#% is impossible? That you're supposed to try to turn or look for a teammate facing the right way? Apparently not.

And that’s the most entertaining thing about you as a player: you’re so unconventional. You’re creative, you’re an inspired lunatic. You’re a football genius, a frickin’ magician. You’re like Thierry Henry - but mortal. Just having you around must be a great inspiration to kids like Erling K., even though he’s not that much younger. You’re fun to watch and must be really fun to play with.

I hope you realize what a great and rare gift you’ve been given. It seems as if you do. In fact, you seem like a genuinely nice guy. Not everyone with great talent has a nice personality. No need to mention names. The one boring thing about you is your interviews. But that’s OK. You say plenty with your feet and attitude. Being modest and softspoken on camera is actually quite refreshing, and it’s nice to see the respect you have for your your teammates, the club and the fans. You communicate that on the field as well. You show that respect in the way you celebrate goals, the disciplined way you stay focused despite ugly fouls and inattentive referees, and your general work ethic.

You deserve a great future in the sport, and I hope you achieve it. That injuries and intrigues don’t get in your way. I know you’re too good to stay with Lyn and in Norway forever. I imagine you must be curious about how far your skills can take you, eager to test them against even better opponents. That’s fine. Ambition is good. And when you leave, we’ll understand. I think I can speak for other Lyn fans on that.

We’re grateful for every game you play. But when you move on (don’t hurry!) we’ll thank you and wish you well, just as we were able to do with Ali al-Habsi and Steven Lustü. In 2027, when we look back at the Lyn-team of the early 2000s, you'll be one of the first that comes to mind. You've already made that kind of mark.

You’re an #$%-kicking entertainer with a sense of decency. What more could a fan wish for?

Kim Hansen
Lyn-fan since 1987

Time will tell, remember that discipline is the hallmark of success in soccer and Ogbuke has it all.I personnally see ogbuke being more successfully that Mikel. 'A successful jouney begins with a step' .Siasia has seen something which you have not seen, and Ogbuke carries those elements of success.
