No wonder he had to move to the Jets. What is it with black men, that don't wanna use condom? Re: Martins to join Birmingham on loan
I think it's a great move for both parties. Martins gets to come back to England to be by his new fam while Birmingham finally get a legit striker that knows how to actually knock a ball into goal. McLeish made some bad blunders in the market last summer and with his reticence to play the aging Kevin Phillips while sticking with Cameron Jerome. The less said about Zigic the better. Main thing is Oba will probably get a fair bit of playing time upfront and hopefully produce.

Things did not work out for him at Inter, Newcastle, Wolfsburg and now Rubin. Yet people will yab and bash Yak. Yet people say he is better than Yekini.

Don't know why you guys are arguing over two washed up strikers. BOTH of them are no longer good enough for the SE, not the kind of SE we all dream about anyway. But if we are truly saying we can't find any better than these guys and we have no choice but to use them then we also have to accept that we are a 2nd rate team in Africa.goke313 wrote:martins has a higher % than yak....had yak not attempted pk's martins would be aheadwanaj0 wrote:Things did not work out for him at Inter, Newcastle, Wolfsburg and now Rubin. If Obafemi's goal ratio...had continued he would have been the best Striker Nigeria ever had. If had continued to progress, he would have been a World Class player. He was rated alongside the likes of Wayne Rooney and Lionel Messi as one of the best youth prospects. Furthermore he is still the fourth all time scorer of the Super Eagles and his performance in Italy and England is decent.

Now on Martins. I remember when Okocha was brought to England -though it wasn't on loan- people said he was finished, 'oh how the mighty has fallen', 'oh Okocha cannot clean Kanu's boot,' 'oh Okocha cannot carry any team', 'oh Okocha cannot handle EPL pace because he is too slow.' Well, as they say, the rest are history. Obafemi Martins will still be a force to reckon with in the EPL like he was before he left. Oh well, badluck for Arsenal!!

Re: Martins to join Birmingham on loan
How can he prove anything, when he was always dodging international call ups. Those are your free get famous tickets. He made his bed, now let him sleep in it. The players that have commanded respect all came from winning national teams or prominence in a national fixtures. Our players had it azz backwards. Without the 1994W/C all our current 94 squad would have been nothing but subjects of imaginative speculations like the Odegbami, Muda, Adokie squad.

Re: Martins to join Birmingham on loan
All it takes is for him to have a great match and his confidence will be back.
He didn't look out of place in the WC, so I wouldn't be so quick to write him off.
As someone mentioned earlier, the same was said about Okocha prior to his joining Bolton and see what happened to him.
Lets all hope that for his sake and Nigeria's, he regains his confidence and is able to hit his potential.

Welcome to CE: A place where an average man can tell a legend how to run his family. A place where an internet coach think he is beta team than an international coach. A place where a "four one nine" artist and Cab Driver can call a professional player a wastepipe. A Place where a wanna be agent can tell a professional player what club to join and what country to earn his money.A place where a simple debate can turn into an insult towards your mama and papa. Once again welcome to CE.
Re: Martins to join Birmingham on loan
Martins is no wastepipe.
His statistics are decent and respectable.
He is one of the few SE players that I won't insult.
Good luck to him.
