My brother, why are you laughing? How could you not know this?

A person (not me though) could make the argument that this was the most important event in the history of Africa's participation in the World Cup. It is the reason we finally got our own qualification spot.

PS: By the way, Nigeria finished second to Morocco, one point behind, in the final round of qualifying for the 1970 tournament. We came that close to being the first to enjoy Africa's new spot .... and we knocked out Cameroun and Ghana along the way. :)

The Eagle, quite funny that such a very important piece of History on African football, I never heard or read about it before today. I saw it for the first time this morning quite illuminating if I may say and kudos to the principled stand they took then. On a lighter note, that means England didn't win the World Cup in 1966 unless they are saying Africa was not part of the world in 1966.!

We have been brainwashed by the Premier League that it's the best in the world. Nonsense. It's the best brand
Roy Keane: ITV 02/25/14

He says that we are currently "brainwashed" into believing that the Premier League is the best competition in the world, and that we are now a long way off dominating the Champions League again.
Gary Neville: Mirror: 12/23/14

I think Spain’s by far the best league.

No mind dem. They are just like ghana and their 7 trophies won when they were playing monky post with egypt and comoros islands in 1883

Really? This is why I shudder when people here chew up the BS from Western media claiming WC space is fairly allocated. Even now the place allocation at the World Cup remains unfair and grossly political to support UEFA interests and yet you have CE guys cheering it without any knowledge of political issues.

See even the way ranking coefficient is used for confederations in FIFA ranking system. Reality is world football is basically UEFA and the "others." Such unfairness will continue until people wise up.

Honestly, such UEFA privileges will be unlawful in several countries today.
The difficulties of statistical thinking describes a puzzling limitation of our mind: our excessive confidence in what we believe we know, and our apparent inability to acknowledge the full extent of our ignorance and the uncertainty of the world we live in. We are prone to overestimate how much we understand about the world and to underestimate the role of chance in events -- Daniel Kahneman (2011), Winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics
