He played the wrong card totally - signed a new contract but those other players like different music. He's stranded with Yorkshireman honour!!! It's imperative we fight as hard as hell to get Mahrez. Totally understand Kante opting for Chelsea - Matic wants out, Mikel's so-so whereas with us in that spot there's competition.theYemster wrote:So if Kante and now I hear Mahrez leave maybe Vardy might reconsider his decision to stay.kajifu wrote:Chelsea closing on Kante deal for 29million,should we hijack him from them?

This market as is needs to adjust downwards - the projections made by agents & selling clubs now need to factor in Brexit. More correctly there is a shortage of quality strikers at the price Arsenal is willing to pay
Aubameyang 27, ManC prized out @£60m now wants double last seasons' wages from Dortmund. Would've like to go to Real Madrid. Lewandowski 27 wants to go to Real Madrid too - Bayern ain't even playing @£78m,We now appreciate why Real settled for homeboy Morata. Bacca 29 valued at 30m 'ish',Higuaín valued at £70m plus - when you factor in wages all these guys cost you over £100m over a 3/4 yr contract at short end of their careers.
Teams have to be more creative in how they share the goalscoring burden. Good.consistent destructive wingers create havoc for defenses.

With respect - totally different situation. FFP was about Platini wanting to use the small euro-nations as political base - new money killed that. The effect of Brexit combined with massive terrorist activities in France & Turkey(coup) affects whatever financial projections made 2months ago. If Zlatan has lost the equivalent of 21k weekly on wages - it ain't about FFP - clubs are facing unstable financial futures on a shaky sterling, the big TV deal(Murdoch or not) never factored a very near future of shrinking revenue streams - the transfer market has to adjust cos clubs will.amafolas wrote:were you the same people waiting for FFP to level the playing field for Arsenal in the transfer market. One thing I can guarantee, regardless of how these uncertainties play out, Arsenal will not end up in a better financial position relative to the guy's we have struggled to compete with in recent times. Either we buy what we need or we don't. Waiting for a more auspicious time is pathetically futile.tolahs wrote:With respect - totally different situation. Looks like it's official, Chelsea sign Kante. That's the difference between a serious ball club and Arsenal. Even giving up champions league footy.

no surprises here...some teams "look at" players, while others actually sign them. Arsenal has a habit of looking for excuses not to sign players...they are too expensive, they are 29 yrs old, they will stunt the growth of Zelalem, we already have The Ox who is flying in training and can play all positions, etc.

Wenger should not be allow to coach, keep financial record, hire youth coaches, sign players, decide salary of players. Are we in dictatorship region?
You can see why Wenger never wanted to leave Arsenal for clubs like Real Madrid...

This transfer has been on way before the window. Chelski have been trying to sign the player since the window. PSG lost out because the player did not want to return to Ligue 1 but Chelski still paid the amount PSG offered for the player. If you guys think deals like this are done quickly, then you really do not have a clue how the transfer system works. It is not easy to sign players. Why? All sides want the best deal for themselves.

For years during era of austerity Gooners were told Arsenal would have to wait until CL playoff was completed and CL group stage football secured before club could spend and yet often after with CL football secured spending remained largely negligible. Last 2 summer widows with CL group stage football assured AW has bought only 2 senior players Cech and Xhaka and spent a total of 35 MP. The current financials+future income are self explanatory, yet with PL season less than a month away despite obvious deficiencies in squad AW has like last summer only added 1 senior player into the fold.
Add in NT exertions on likes of Ozil, Giroud, Sanchez, Kos, Ramsey+ season long injury to Welbeck Arsenal are heading into the 1st month of the season significantly undermanned and fatigued. Arsenal and AW can do as they wish but what they have no rights whatsoever on is Gooners patience and understanding, that ship sailed eons ago.

Reading this thread and I am really wishing Arsenal do not sign any player even though the chances are, they will sign two players. If Arsenal are going to put up with the BS I read here, I pray we sign no one, so those of us who support our team no matter what, just go ahead and do just that.
I'll hope you lot get lost because we have signed no one. Unfortunately, you lot won't.

I don't feel aggravated, I look at the squad and I feel confident. Kante is a player I like but we got Xhaka, who is more of the type of player we needed. Arsenal have other priorities and the are pursuing it. I look at my club and trust those who run the club. I do not look at other and use them as a barometer for my club.Tunisian Gooner wrote:Waffi Gooners have every right to feel aggravated. True that some Gooners are going over the top on subject of how season will unfold, this is a good team with deficiencies, yet some Gooners guaranteeing Arsenal finish between 5TH to 10TH ummm....how about no. This team will finish no worse than Third.
That said Waffi you have to understand this is a sentiment that has built over nearly a decade, most Gooners are not nor have they ever asked Arsenal to act in a reckless manner, just that AW and Arsenal invest resources at their disposal and upgrade where required.

That is a decision for the Management and not the fans. If the Management in their wisdom decide not to make a signing in the belief that we have the players already, I got no problems with that.Tunisian Gooner wrote:I agree with you on Kante. For me, I'd rather see an Academy product break through than we sign some average player for £30m. I am glad I have a manager who sees it like I do. Hopefully he is not pressured into paying silly money for any player.
I just happen to know we are in for 2 players. One is Rugani, Juve are reluctant to sell Rugani because he has the type of talent associated with the great Italian CDs, but Juve have a problem, they have 6 CDs, including Benatia who they just got from loan from Bayern. I listened to 2 Italian analysts today talk of the problem Juve have with keeping the player who wants out because he wants to play and Juve doing everything they can to keep a player they see as the future for their club. This is the Arsenal I know, they know quality and they go for it. If they don't get it, they have alternative plans.
Arsène Wenger at Arsenal, 1996 to 2018. I was there.
