Scary is what should shape United's season, it's about time the players stand up and be counted.Kabalega wrote:This might be the morale booster they need to go through the next 6 games. Because that schedule is scary.marko wrote:Mourinho best days are behind him, we have city lurking in wait, next 6 games are massive! Other teams will not be as giving as Newcatle who are completly hopeless, they are 19th in the league for a reason, today game looked like a relegation battle, that we dont have a recignised defence is indeed worrying, the better teams will rip apart our make shift defence, Juventus with Ronaldo?
Lost confidence in the board and Mourinho!
This thing of conceding easy early goals they have to end it.
Otherwise a welcome victory.

Let's just say ... many things were lost in translation !!!
Any reason he pulled Baily after 19 minutes? Ashley Young looked to be the one they were scoring on.

Don't mind them. Mourinho has an agenda to portray youngsters as not up to the task, so he can get his experienced and expensive players.bepanda wrote:Did he miss Matic, who almost scored an own goal, heading the ball backwards?oloye wrote:To play MacTominay out of position and go on air to say he is scared..??that is low.

Re: Man United 3-2 Newcastle FT
@Tf, granted the Rashford and McTomminay namedrops were in the context of media-created climate about Man United, but was it essential? It’s likely Mourinho used the youngest of the herd in his argument for a particular purpose, perhaps to emphasise how the negative energy distorts the ambience and corrupts their potential and ability. In fielding both, Mourinho was taking a swipe at the age-old argument that youth flounders under his watch. In citing said youth as suffering as a consequence of the “manhunt”, the pistol is effectively turned on the poisoned pen publishers. But are reading eyes and listening ears as shrewd politicians as the man himself?
Mourinho plays the game better than most, so well in fact, he makes an island of himself whilst lost in translation. Results haven’t been the best and the coup d’etat is obviously apparent, but that said, it would come as no surprise were United to bulldoze their way through the next 5 or so games.

Re: Man United 3-2 Newcastle FT
Let mourinho try that bizarre formation against the top teams, they will rip us apart, the likes of Guardiola will just laugh and change the formation as well, it worked because we played a hopeless team called Newcastle who sits comfortably in the relegation zone
Right now everything is totally wrong, we dont have any clear agenda, clear strategy, for a big club like united, this is so wrong, that the board sits back doing nothing amounts to criminal!
They can keep on delaying the obvious, Mourinho has turned out not to be the right fit for the type of football we play and he surely needs to make way, its that simple

I think he explained to Bailly why he pulled him off.
As for why Young was on the pitch and Bailly was not....same reason why you're an internet coach and he coaches MUFC

The important thing is that these players have the ability to up their game when necessary.marko wrote:Winning formula? Play Pogba in defence? Have they no pride in their craft? This was just a case of nervous players being shell-shocked and a poor defensive shape by the Manager to start the game. He eventually had to get rid of two of his defensive players to get it right.
Now I worry he may have found the formula. I hope he goes back to his usual hubris.
They did it last season at Etihad to win 3-2.
But they are not doing it very often.
The next 6 games simply ask for such performances.

been a united supporter since age 4! some of us are real fans, some are glory hunters, dont know which group people belong in here, I have seen it all, how united evolved from the late 80s to the 90s and beyound, the last couple of years has been shambolic and Ferguson has to take some of the blame for thistfco wrote:benteke wrote:The important thing is that these players have the ability to up their game when necessary.marko wrote:Winning formula? Appointing his fellow Scotman was a huge mistake and we have not recovered from that, we also had a bit of arrogance regarding City, from noisy neighbours to title contenders and bonifide top premiership team.
Fast forward Mourinho, came with a big reputation, his only error is he is still living on past glories, has not evolved as a coach and probably never will, the main reason why he brought to united was just to get us back to winning trophies irrespective of the style of play
Then of course we know he had a reputation of throwing his players under the bus and parking it as well, well he has fallen out with several players, his job hanging by the thread, probably will never coach a top European side anymore unless they are desperate
Newcastle tactics had pure desperation writen all over it, 400 million spent and have to fight for our lives to beat a team going back to the championship?
Paul Pogba, the man he took the captaincy away from saved his managerial life, believe this or not, when Pogba is in the mood, nobody can stop his shine, The way he controlled the game from deep, everything started from him!
Mourinho has to learn to be flexible, his methids are outdated, the top premiership managers have sussed him out, thats why he is struggling, old trafford is no longer that haunting ground for our opponents, how the mighty have fallen
Then we have an inept board, just watching with their fat bellies waiting for things to improve, hoping, what is needed now is a team meeting where the players should air all their views without the threat of persecution, let Mourinho be told the honest truth
If he wants to keep his job, believe the same players you abuse and speak down to are the ones that will have to play to save his job, he better start treating them with respect, Player power is indeed big, these guys are earning too much money, have huge social media presence, the stakes have changed, gone are the days when John barnes was earning 10K a week in the late 80s, these days, they are earning 300K a week tax free, some even more when you add sponsorhip money, its just how things are, Mourinho should learn to adapt!
So angry Nigeria got kicked out of the world cup once again, i nearly told my wife that i caught my girlfriend with another man today!

Re: Man United 3-2 Newcastle FT
This game showed the worst (first half) and best (second half) of Man Utd. For the first 45 minutes they were utter bobbins. Then when they had no choice but to attack in the 2H, they looked a different team. The most utterly perplexing thing is WHY Man Utd have to wait to go 2 goals down before they decide to attack? It is pertinent that Man Utd's best 2 performances under JM were in games where they went 0-2 down at HT, then roared back in the 2H to win 3-2 (against Man City and Palace last season).
Given that when they attack, they can eviscerate the runaway record breaking league champions and score 3 goals against them in 45 minutes AWAY - why do they wait to go 0-2 down before they decide to attack? Why not just do that from the beginning?

Because a Leopard cannot shed its color. In fairness to the manager , the players are the ones who need to answer this question. They sleep walked into the match with Neecastle, i think they under estimated the problem which having an unssettled camp can saddle you with.wiseone wrote:This game showed the worst (first half) and best (second half) of Man Utd. They were tensed, they were lethargic and unmotivated. To them playing in front of their crowds and at home would be just enough to see them through another game and may be the burden hanging over the club would somehow disappear. They were not ready for wht Newcastle did to them and the way the goals came was too cheap and.easy. It was a slap on their collective faces, see Pigba , Mata, Lukaku and to some.degree Rashford...even.though he missed two chances. Pogba became the leader the team needed and he started doing more and asking more of others.
Of course the changes the coach made came handy, but that fight back owes itself to a number of factors
1. The players who suddenly felt a slap on their face
2. The reaction of the fans
3. The manager
4. Newcastle for bottling it when they should have gone for the kill.
Truth be told the team would have lost like it did at Brighton and Westham,if this was.an away game as the players would have struggled to come alive without the advantage.which playing at home gives.
The verdict is...it is not hurray yet, as this vulnerability inn the team Psyche will be tested by other teams looking for something to exploit.

Re: Man United 3-2 Newcastle FT
Oloye - the 2H was in some way a damning indictment of JM's management (despite the result). In the 2H, they played a back 3, with Pogba as a deep lying DM, and with no discernible tactical formation. The fact that the unsophisticated "go for it and throw the kitchen sink at them" approach in the 2H worked better than JM's rigid "shape and compact" tactics, is in some way damning of him. No plan was better than his plan.
Re: Man United 3-2 Newcastle FT
Mourinho is a footballing coward, thats why he did not have any options left or his job would have gone after 90 minutes! then he decided for them to attack attack attack just like Pogba suggested when playing at home, let those guys play without restrictions and you will just start getting results, if that Newcastle game did not teach Mourinho some home truths, he never will, come Chelsea, its back to the i dont want to lose formation but this time you have the mighty Hazard lying in wait
