Re: Re: Nwakali
actually it is that pathetic rafa Benitez who has tried so hard to destroy iwobi's confidence....playing trashes like grey, townsend over him...Everton will soon fire rafa...Enugu II wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 5:06 amUgbowo,
Great observation. I agree entirely. Iwobi may be pressured. If you notice, he is really the regularly starter on Rohr's team that has found himself relegated to the bench under Egu. I believe it has to be on his mind and I am glad he is fighting back to earn a place and today was excellent for him.

You dey mind all these watchers of football, they forget how the SE gave up 4 goals vs Salone. This is why Egu has won way more Afcon games compared to ***** .... in fact egu has a better defensive record at any Afcon compared to ****gochino wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 10:47 amNah, the Midfield actually got stronger in possession and domination, I would say the attack actually suffered but that didn't matter as we were 3 goals up, the aim was to manage the game and simply kill the game with possession and passing in the last 20 mins and Nwakali understood his assignment really well.chief nfachairman wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 9:16 am I think the midfield got weaker with Nwakali's introduction. I suspect Eguavon will play Nwakali and onyeka in the midfield, Onyekuru and Ejuke on the wings. Ndah may likely start too. I also see Ebeuehi and Collins playing wing backs, with Uzoho in goal.

Yes ball-handling is similar in style, but Mikel protected the ball, dictated the pace of games, tackled like a monster, cherished wars and was smooth as silk.
Nwakali looks good and does the basics well, but he has a long way to go to be an SE starter.

This was just his 2nd ever SE game..I know for a fact Nwa is a dead ball specialist, can shoot from distance and can control the tempo of a game. No one said he is the next Mikel....I said the way he came in yesterday was similar to Mikel calming the game

Frankly, I was very impressed by nwakali and his today performance was his best for SE this far.. The man controlled the tempo of the game with his slick and accurate passes while also creating spaces around his team mate. To me, 424 isn’t a balanced formation and in the long run, we need to accommodate an extra midfielder. Aribo or Iwobi should play as an AM while Nwakali, ndidi, onyeka and etebo should play as a CM/DM respectfully
this, would really love to see how we play in a 433 too, thot we did towards the end but not sure

Re: Re: Nwakali
Nwakali played well, I didnt see this at first.
The midfield problem is solved, Nwakali, Aribo, Peter, Ndidi
Now they need more games together before the WC.

Re: Re: Nwakali
The journalist in the post match presser asked Egu a question attacking Nwakali. She said Egu's subs have not had any impact and mentioned Nwakali by name. I thought it was a terrible question because it was the wrong analysis of the game and seemed to be asked by a novice analyzer but maybe a seasoned journalist.
What i did not expect, nor did i like it, was Egu's response. He defended himself instead of protecting his player. He sounded like he was agreeing with the journalist but then said Nwakali lacks game rhythm and Sadiq did not do what he was told. It was not a good answer.

Re: Re: Nwakali
I think it's a testament to his character that this is the way he has chosen to respond to the first time he is facing this type of adversity with the SE. Since Mikel left, he was a guaranteed starter under Rohr and claimed he played his best football under Rohr. You would think he would sulk since Rohr left and a new coach came in and benched him. He has been the opposite. Full of drive and energy every time he has come in and actually putting in a shift defensively. His on the ball quality was fantastic as well and combined with Aina and Nwakali to kill off the contest and frankly his goal should have been allowed to stand.Enugu II wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 5:06 amUgbowo,

I suspect the journalist knew exactly what he was doing. And Egu's response sounds as if he was caught unawares but felt he had to say something. A manager should not be giving out such information about his players game in a press conference. That is for the dressing room or privately.Ugbowo wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 4:13 pm The journalist in the post match presser asked Egu a question attacking Nwakali. Re: Re: Nwakali
Different managers do things differently, there are some that do share such information and feel that's the best way to motivate the player and some who coddle and keep it private or even choose what to do on a player to player basis. But one thing you can tell is Egu has high expectations from his players and believes they can do more and give more. He said such about Ndidi before the tournament started - stating he feels he's holding back and can give more - and we see the result the bobo is like super focused and doing more than the bare minimum he was before. I don't think its up to us to say this style is best or this is how a coach has to do things, it all comes down to what works for him and his players...what gets the desired output and desired results. So far they've been delivering and don't forget he did big up Nwakali and said he thinks he had a good game.Lolly wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 4:20 pmI suspect the journalist knew exactly what he was doing.
