Mendy is poor at the moment. Reason why he´s been replaced with Kepa. Whereas Onana keeps on improving. Kept a clean sheet against Barcelona the other day.Kabalega wrote: ↑Wed Oct 05, 2022 6:26 pmTalking of patriotism and EPLism.
BTW, Onana has no business being on that list.
I suspect if Onana were not Cameroonian, you would have Mendy on that list.
I can name 2-3 goalies ahead of him without even thinking about it.

Mendy is injured he hasn't been replaced Dr., Onana is not even a full-time starter, that leaves Bono as who should be the first choice African XIThe Goddess wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 9:51 amMendy is poor at the moment. Re: Best African XI At the Moment
Onana needs to stop conceding cheap goals. He is a great shot stopper. Very Athletic. Guy can pass the ball with his feet better than most players on the outfield. I think he can only get better at the national team if he is given competition. But Song has made him understand that come rain or sunshine, he is number one. So no need for him to work extra hard to become number one.

Why are some of you including players who have been out injured, benchwarmers, and those out of form at the moment?

For a minute there Mendy was looking like the best goalkeeper in the world. What happened? Anyway, injured or not, he is better than Onana any day.King Futcha wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 3:45 pmMendy is injured he hasn't been replaced Dr., Onana is not even a full-time starter, that leaves Bono as who should be the first choice African XIThe Goddess wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 9:51 amMendy is poor at the moment. Not true! Onana has improved tremendously and the thread is "at the moment inform players". Why mention an injured player?ohsee wrote: ↑Fri Oct 07, 2022 1:54 amFor a minute there Mendy was looking like the best goalkeeper in the world. What happened? Madam Goddess, so you are a Cameroonian (as well as black) nationalist? OK, I concede your point. But I will say to you that I expect Cameroon to be going on a sight-seeing tour to Qatar, just like Ghene. The Goddess wrote: ↑Fri Oct 07, 2022 11:30 amNot true! Nigerians are so accommodating. Nigerians will be kicked out of most African forums for expressing opinions that are derogatory to Nigeria. Seriously, which one of Partey, Anguissa or Kudus is good enough to wipe Iwobi’s boots? And someone had the audacity to pick Aubameyang over Osimhen. Nonsense and ingredients. You can all go fly a kite

You guys appear to be picking players based on the clubs they play for but one has to be critically analytic in these matters. Is Mazraoui really better than Aina or is Hakimi better than Bassey? For me, the jury is still out. Ndidi is injured right now so I’ll go along with Partey so, here’s how I’ll line em up:
Mendy
Mazraoui-Koulibaly-Matip-Bassey
Mahrez-Partey-Iwobi-Mane
Salah-Osimhen
Cheers.

Well, as I follow Croatia very closely...fortunes correlate strongly to players having big roles at big clubs.
I have to think this is the way to select and assess any African team.
Brazil is a good example of this. They have so many top players across the pitch on top teams playing those top roles...the only weakness not having a commanding midfield offensive orchestrator.
Quick question: who is the best African orchestrating midfielder right now? More than 1? Who would be the linchpin, playing a role like ZZ did for France?

Re: Best African XI At the Moment
Mate, there is no African in that role better than Iwobi. Every midfielder mentioned, except for Iwobi, is a defensively oriented midfielder. Only Iwobi has proven offensive capabilities. Huge yes to the bolder part below.
Why are you comparing Bassey (plays CD nowadays) to Hakimi? (a RB)
That is a bit like asking whether Eric Bailly is better than Alexander-Arnold.

Choupo Moting currently has 8 goals in 13 games in all competitions. That's one hell of a stat.
