We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini. We used to think before then that if the other players are better, you have to lose. After that we learned anything is possible – you can beat better teams by using tactics." Jurgen Klopp

Mbappe scores. The defense left him open, very widely open

Yes-oo! He sent the ball to the 90 degree angle where 'no' goalkeeper can save it. Beautiful job

Best striker right now for sure.

France îs a team. A complete team.

And you know what? They don't have a clear midfield leader like ZZ or Platini. Which forces them to play more united, balanced.

I don't think they would if Kante and Pogba were here. It kind was fortuitous that they were unavailable, accelerating the transition to youth...and new emergent talent.

You've gotta specify here... there are quite a lot of them in Krakow.

My quick take: we're going into a down cycle on extraordinary individuals like Messi and CR. Many great players as usual, but no clear dominating game breakers...hence team balance and play, not that this ever goes away.

Regardless of France winning the WC or not...Deschamps must be given a massive credit , for the way he has been able to use altenate players to replace. Pogba, Kante, Benzema, Nkuku, Hernande, Kimpbepe( all out injured )

KPOM!

Again, these things are demonstrated over time.

The whole French program stands out, just like Spain. Full rebuild in flight. Across every unit: goalies, defense, midfield, and attackers. Playing to their strengths.
