Of all the positions that Man Utd needed new signings in, GK was not one of them.

Only Man Utd could spend nearly 50 million to buy a player who is worse than the player he is meant to "replace".

Manchester United has to stop ETH's transfer policy of trying to sign every player that played for him in Holland.

15 goals in 6 games. Burnley, Palace twice and Galatasaray. Surely Butterfingers will avoid the indignity of 20 goals in 10 games. First clean-sheet on the weekend at the Moor.

Onana is a good modern goalie.
He had a howler on the first goal and has areas of improvement but I think if given time he can improve.
But in this modern age patience is a rare specimen so he needs to cut the gaffes out of his game.

I also laugh at the comparisons to De Gea.
Last I checked he was still unemployed and as good as he has been in the past as a shot stopper he was pretty gash as a ball playing keeper and made his own fair share of gaffes. Anyway there are rumors he may soon find a job in Spain

The obsession with “modern ball playing GKs” has made people forget that the GK’s primary responsibility is to keep the ball out of the goal. Even if a keeper has KBD or Scholes like passing accuracy, it will not matter if he has butter fingers.

Faced between a shot stopper with poor distribution, and a good distributor who is awful at making saves, I will choose the former all day (at least he will not cause his teams to lose games).

DDG is unemployed because he has spent the past half decade being the highest paid GK in the world, and no one in this post Covid austerity era will pay a GK 350K a week like Manchester United were paying him.

Chief if you’re viewed as an upper echelon goalie, your wages will not preclude you from getting a job. Come on now.

For instance if Ederson or Allison or Donnaruma were available on a Bosman, I guarantee no one will be concerned about their salary

Au contraire mon ami. DDG is unemployed precisely because of his salary (Man Utd released him because he refused to take a substantial pay cut). No one is going to pay any GK 350K a week. To put that into perspective, DDG was earning more than elite strikers like Haaland, Lewandowski, and Griezmann.

The only European clubs that can afford to pay a GK 350K a week already have elite GKs (Real Madrid has Courtois, PSG has Gigi Donnarumma, Man City has Ederson). DDG is not likely to move to Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 because his wife gave birth not too long ago, and relocating his young family to another continent is probably low on his list of priorities after he spent the last 10 years living in a different country from his then GF/now wife.

Ergo - the only clubs he can join are clubs that cannot afford to pay his wages. Ergo unemployment.

It seems you’ve missed the point … if DDG was at the top of his game like he was in years prior the issue of him not being able to be an elite sweeper keeper or his salary would not be an issue for his employment or the lack of thereof

It’s ok never mind. I’ll just move on. No need for us to go on a bridge to nowhere. All good

Turf Moor. Clean sheet watch. Goal post to the rescue a little while back. Surely, late night, early autumn, deep in the Shires, no better setting for it. The grandest stage of all. The colosseum of Old Englanderry. Ale by the keg, draught by the gallon. Bitter? Hardly. Honey to the seasoned palates of Lancashirian kin. Sixty minutes a half, a little on top. Cards, 5 yellows, 2 reds, any chance of an orange?

Ever heard of Wilma Fakespear?

3 more, could’ve been 4 but for a missed pen. Tiki-taka’d straight to the opposition, big all in from Casemiro, red. Comedy.

He lost concentration. :)
Cannot afford to do that back there at this level.
Luckily, the pena didn’t go in.

I feel sorry for him though. His thick skin will be tested.

...could it be they made bad purchases this summer? Ten Hag don chop too much bribe from recruiting his former players.
