Are you following the facts or your sentiment?
If he is digging, he is digging to bury you people’s argument.
I don’t see you people disputing the information he is posting here.
You all can start with that.
Are you willing?
No shame in being wrong.

Really?gochino wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 8:44 pmYou know that's not true! Rohr got more than 5x what Keshi was paid.Lolly wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 7:47 pmIt is not a secret that foreign coaches used to be paid much higher wages than local coaches. But things changed after Lagerback's heist. Since then local and foreign coaches have been paid more or less the same.aruako1 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 6:29 pmOn that point, I asked you to dispute it with Siasia. The general topic has been local vs foreign coach remuneration. I have been consistent on my position on that point and nothing has proven me wrong.Lolly wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 5:12 pmI thought the discussion was about local coaches being paid N1m per month? I tire for you guys.aruako1 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 4:54 pmWhere did Siasia say that it was him that was paid N1 million a month? Which local coach out-earned oyibo coaches? Where is the person that did the local v foreign comparison since 1980. Can we have a similar comparison for salaries?Damunk wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 4:44 pmNope. Just going on reports and a little memory.
So you basically believe what you want to believe, adjusting your memory accordingly.
What do we do with the news reports being dug up?
Ignore them?
At least I am not relying on memory alone.
Check above: I am actually asking for more evidence.
Seems you’re more interested in discrediting the messengers of today than any contemporaneous reports from the time in question.
Are you also going to argue that Keshi and Oliseh were paid about “N1m” a month?
Seems that’s what you are comfortable believing.
Wonderful.
You are actually doing more damage to your argument by using ‘dem say’ evidence.
Both Oliseh and Siasia are making unfounded claims that just don’t add up.
Oliseh even said “from what I heard…and what I know”.
That alone should make you more wary of the accuracy of that claim.
But yuh, it serves your argument and the truth seems not to matter.
So let’s keep it simple:
Keshi was on how much again? Take a figure and multiply it by 5.
So how much is Oliseh saying Rohr was being paid from your estimate?
See how it doesn’t add up if only you bothered to actually question some of the things that reinforce your preconceptions.
But maybe the truth is secondary here.
Is it?

I quoted Oliseh. We have Siasia's words. And I asked for evidence showing that local coaches earn more than foreign coaches. A similar chart to the 1980 - 2024 performance chart. Nobody responded.
Re: Samson Siasia alleges pay disparity at NFF: Foreign coaches earn $50k, locals just N1M
But Aruako, that’s a straw manaruako1 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2024 11:55 amI quoted Oliseh. We have Siasia's words. And I asked for evidence showing that local coaches earn more than foreign coaches. A similar chart to the 1980 - 2024 performance chart. Nobody responded.
Because nobody is actually arguing that with you, or anyone else.
I can’t imagine myself arguing that “local coaches earn more than foreigners”, and I honestly don’t recall reading anyone making that argument either. Maybe I missed where someone did, in which case we can join forces and destroy the claim.
But I think this whole thread is about the claimed “N1m” salary.
Have you moved on from that?

Keshi paid his assistant from Benin. The main issue is that local coaches are paid a lot less than the foreign coaches, even if they are more qualified and thats bad! Nobody would pay a Nigerian Doctor in US more than an American Doctor in the same field. Just think of that!Lolly wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2024 11:14 amWho was the assistant that he was paying? NFF Rejects Keshi's Pleas for Okpala,Valerie
9 MAY 2013

The board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) bluntly refused to be swayed by the appeal of Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi, for the reinstatement of his two sacked back room assistants, Sylvanus Okpala and Valerie Hounandinuou.
The board which met Wednesday rejected the plea and felt that the down sizing policy that led to the dismissal of the two back room officials was a necessary cost cutting measure.

NFF'll Demand N10 Million From Oliseh - Green
16 MARCH 2016 Vanguard (Lagos)
The Nigeria Football Federation is dusting its legal pads and reviewing the controversies following the sudden resignation of former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh with a view to making claims, where necessary.
Laughing off some of the statements credited to Oliseh, chairman of the 'powerful' NFF technical committee, Chris Green said the NFF was not unaware of its rights. He made it clear that the NFF would soon write to Oliseh to demand a refund of the five million Naira paid him in lieu of his accommodation in Nigeria, and the February 2016 salary (another five million Naira) that should serve in lieu of his one-month notice of resignation.

Did you read the link you posted? Isn’t it saying exactly what I said in my post that Valerie was being paid by the NFF until he was sacked? And then the NFF told Keshi he is free to employ him if he is okay to pay him from his own wages when Keshi insisted he wanted him back. Meanwhile Keshi was on N5m per month when the NFF were paying Valerie. They sacked Valeria and Okpala, and then cut Keshi’s wages to N2.5m per month until Keshi’s ran to Goodluck Jonathan and got him involved which resulted in an increase of his salary by decree from the Presidential intervention.gochino wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2024 1:19 pmKeshi paid his assistant from Benin. Re: Samson Siasia alleges pay disparity at NFF: Foreign coaches earn $50k, locals just N1M
You must be a politician! Why the confusion of using Naira to calculate Keshi's salary and usd for Rohr? Now Keshi was paid 16k Dollars and Rohr was paid 55k Dollars. As pointed out Keshi paid his assistant from that I6k. Now, forget about the numbers, my point is that foreign coaches even if less qualified in terms of achievement are paid a lot more, 5x or 10x more? Doesn't really matter! It's bad enough that they are paid a lot more, period! Remember Keshi was a champion that had won AFCON, historically qualified Togo to their first ever world cup and equalled Nigeria's best ever world cup performance. Please remind me what was Rohr's achievement again and why he had to be paid more?Lolly wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2024 1:26 pmDid you read the link you posted? How does N5m per month convert to $16,000 in 2012? How do you compare their salaries if you don’t use the same currency?
Keshi offered to pay his assistant but it wasn’t from the reduced salary. He got an increase with the help of the President. So stop saying Keshi paid his assistant from his $16k. Keshi never accepted the $16k and managed to negotiate an increase. It’s all in black and white, not feelings.
Keshi’s world up performance was one win in four games. How does that match our best World Cup performance?
Do a research on Rohr’s record. He has far more experience than Keshi but you only get what you ask for in the real world. Nobody is going to pay you what you think you deserve. You negotiate it.

So no one here can back up Siasia’s claim that he was paid N1m per month? Or it’s not about numbers anymore? Or N5m was $16k in 2012?

Again, how much did Oliseh say he was paid? At least let’s hear the figure first before we can decide who to believe.aruako1 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2024 3:58 pmI'll take Oliseh's word over the NFF. And I still haven't seen anything that shows that foreign coaches are paid less than local coaches. Can someone draw that chart from 1980 - 2024 again?Lolly wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2024 1:20 pmDid Oliseh state how much they were paying him apart from Rohr earning 5 times his salary?aruako1 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2024 11:55 amI quoted Oliseh. We have Siasia's words. And I asked for evidence showing that local coaches earn more than foreign coaches. A similar chart to the 1980 - 2024 performance chart. Nobody responded.

So if you don’t believe the NFF’s claim that Oliseh was paid N5m, why do you then believe the same NFF that Rohr was paid $50k?
