TBH,

I think that Kompany would’ve been considered to replace Pep

Yes. However, look at the long list they went through to get to Kompany. I think a call to Pep and young Xavi Alonso's antics at Leverkusen helped too. The final goal is City.
I thought he would be competing with big Pat for the City job soon, but it doesn't look like it.

BTW, where is the ManCity-Arsenal legend coaching now?

Piss poor management. Can't respect someone who has zero self-control like that.

He won't last long at Bayern if he conducts himself this way.

My brother I’m hoping this is a one time behavior.

This is one black man I want to succeed. Can you imagine him trying that with Joshua Kimmich at Bayern?

Football has changed significantly. If this works for him, thats fine. However, I wouldnt go in this direction.

Context. Burnley were in a Sisyphean fight for their lives. This was most likely reaffirmation of standards, expectations and belief in the purpose, no matter how progressively futile. Anyone who’s ever attended a leadership course, or gained such qualification, will attest to the fact that there are myriad leadership styles and one must be adept at all.

With regard to Kompany addressing Kimmich, circumstances will be as different as night and day. The hierarchy gradient far shallower and mutual respect much more.

In the golden era, the Gaffer would’ve strolled on the training pitch and planted a solid right hook on the money. Barry Fry vs Ivano Bonetti. Stuff of legend. My how times have changed. The golden era indeed.

Gnabry (failed to make the grade at Arsenal and WBA, where WBA manager Tony Pulis said he was "not at the required level" to play for WBA).

Eric Dier (a reserve at Spurs) - now starts for Bayern ahead of Kim.

Choupo-Moting (ex Stoke and PSG reserve)

Robben - released by Real Madrid in order to make way for Ronaldo. Went on to become a Bayern legend.
Add Leroy Sane to the list.

In the 3 seasons before Sane joined Bayern, he was at Manchester City and won the Premier League twice, Premier League and FA Cup double, and the League Cup 3 times in a row. Not as if he was languishing in mediocrity before Bayern came to save him.

All I’ll add is - it wasn’t too long ago a certain Scots man smashed a footy boot into his players face and not a single pim. Add to that his fabled “hairdryer” treatment but we were told- that’s the way to manage egos to keep them all in check.

It’ll be interesting to see if Guardiola or Mourinho have ever been involved in such a situation. Personally I think it’s much ado about nothing - lot of “stuff” happens on training grounds across the world. We move on.

Might be a case of one rule for them and another for us but only time will tell. :bored:
