U-20 WC THREAD - 2017
Looks like England finally have decided to take this tournament seriously. They send their top youth Talent and Hammer Mighty Argentina 3-0 in their first game. 4 Nigerian blood players on the team

The scoreline was quite flattering for England.Solowe wrote:Looks like England finally have decided to take this tournament seriously. They send their top youth Talent and Hammer Mighty Argentina 3-0 in their first game. 4 Nigerian blood players on the team

2-0 up against the run of play and then an Argie was sent off for a deliberate elbow on Tomori with about 20mis to go.
Even then, Arg dominated but couldn't finish.
Solanke slotted in a third goal from the penalty spot just before full time.
Tomori, Onomah, Solanke and Seyi Ojo all played.
I'm really looking forward to seeing that exciting Zambian team v Portugal.

Korea beat Guinea ... What a useless team Guinea has.. Terrible, terrible, terrible. Clueless coaching, players shooting from 30 yards.
Korea on the other hand look like they have an incredible future for their football.. tall skillful players, very technical..2 Play for Barcelona.

Re: U-20 WC THREAD - 2017
Apparently they're experimenting with live video evidence in this tournament.
The red card came as a result of the ref going over to a video viewing unit manned by 3 officials by the sideline.
After reviewing the video evidence with them he went back, called the Argentina player, made a sign of a video screen and gave him the red.
Looks like this is going to be introduced universally pretty soon.

I dont trust African teams other than Nigeria /Ghana in these International Tournaments... The rest always seem overwhelmed when they get outside of Africa.Damunk wrote:The scoreline was quite flattering for England.Solowe wrote:Looks like England finally have decided to take this tournament seriously. Its a good addition to the game.... It only covers like 4 situations though... everything else is fair game and you know teams will take advantage of the loophole ..Damunk wrote:Apparently they're experimenting with live video evidence in this tournament.

Re: U-20 WC THREAD - 2017
The only African team that may do well is Zambia and maybe Senegal. Guinea and South Africa are pants. Its a shame Oshemen and co failed to make it.

...is 'against run of play' illegal? Anyway, watch those Argies go on to bigger things in their pro careers.Damunk wrote:The scoreline was quite flattering for England.Solowe wrote:Looks like England finally have decided to take this tournament seriously. 1, 4 and 7am games. Ouch. nah to do tape delay for dis one.
We have been brainwashed by the Premier League that it's the best in the world. Nonsense. It's the best brand

He says that we are currently "brainwashed" into believing that the Premier League is the best competition in the world, and that we are now a long way off dominating the Champions League again.

I think Spain’s by far the best league.

Re: U-20 WC THREAD - 2017
I dont exactly agree with your assessment of the game. Bath teams played to their traditional strengths. Agries played their usual tiki-taka possession style, while England played their direct approach coupled with true grit defending. They played their expected styles. Argentina was going to enjoy majority of the possession no matter what.Damunk wrote:The scoreline was quite flattering for England.Solowe wrote:Looks like England finally have decided to take this tournament seriously. England for the first time came to the championship with very little excuses, brought their best youth players..becuase they now see the value in how these championships help in the development of players. And I think we are going to see these crop of players struggle less on the international stage at the senior level. These guys rarely get to play outside of Europe.
The Argies on the other knew they didnt have the best team. This team struggled in the qualifiers and they had been panned at home as a terrible team and not in the class of their predecessors. While they had the possession they really had nothing inside the 18. Nearly all the crosses in the first half just kept going horrible wayward. England on the other hand brought some really good forwards who converted half chances into gold. The English defence, starting with their center backs, played according to English defending philosophy which has served them credibly well for a century.
