Re: ROHR IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO MANAGE THIS MUCH TALENT
You see how you want to twist the story, who said anything about superior? I said favorable result, we didn’t need to be superior to get that and were a few minutes from it, but our coach didn’t make the changes to see the game out. But according to you he bears no blame, we had no chance anyways because the other teams players play for Barca and Real.john12 wrote:Tell me what game we lost at WC that we were ever superior against our opponents

There’s no proof that substituting an incumbent player could had changed the Game. Infact, the possible substitute s available al played in the first game and wasn’t a game changer. We simply lost to a better team, with better players that play at better clubs and supported by unfavorable Referee. Shikena we should just move on and learn from our mistakes but to blame rohr for even making that game competitive is absurd

Re: ROHR IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO MANAGE THIS MUCH TALENT
So how did the Iceland we beat tie them? How can we move on when we don’t analyze and acknowledge the mistakes that were made? Of course you can’t guarantee anything but good coaches make changes that increase their chances of getting the result they are looking for. By his subs it was clear Rohr was trying to win the game rather than solidify the defense and get the needed result. That was a mistake as it clearly proved.john12 wrote:There’s no proof that substituting an incumbent player could had changed the Game. But maceo4, even great coaches make ineffective and even disastrous substitutions. So this is all a fruitless 'what if' argument.maceo4 wrote:So how did the Iceland we beat tie them? There's a reason why they say a good team wins even when playing badly.
There's also a reason why top teams are able to "snatch victory from the jaws of defeat" pretty often when playing technically and psychologically 'inferior' teams.
I think you're overstating the value of the replacement Rohr never made and understating the fact that superior teams just have that belief, not to mention ability to overcome.
On balance and when the chips are down, it takes more effort for a Nigeria to defeat an Argentina than it does for an Argentina to defeat a Nigeria. That's not to say we shouldn't make a fight of it.

But if we follow john’s POV the there is no point of making a fight of it, the better team is just always gonna win with their Barca and Real players. It’s just a defeatist mentality.Damunk wrote:But maceo4, even great coaches make ineffective and even disastrous substitutions. Brother maceo at the end of the day, you simply has to take your chances at the highest level or be punished for it. We had our chances to finish that game and missed while Argentina scored their own chance.
