Wait o! Is this the guy that was crying while someone poured cold water on his head? Men, the people running NFF are some comedians. I’m started to think that the hyping by Oblong head was a dig at the current NFF.

Coach Chelle more pressure than any other incoming SE coach ever. He has to win the Rwanda game or it could be over before it starts. That's a tremendous amount of pressure!

EMIR KONGI JAFFI JOFFA wrote: Tue Jan 07, 2025 6:08 pm Gassau just said the new coach will take over the Chan team. I don’t see Conceicao or any decent coach agreeing to that. Not looking good.

https://owngoalnigeria.com/2025/01/07/n ... gunmodede/

“But the basic thing is that it is going to be very very soon because we are all concerned and we want whoever is going to take charge of the team to start immediately and that is why we came up with a policy, that whichever coach we appoint to manage the Super Eagles will be the one to manage the CHAN Eagles.‘
Excellent decision by the NFF. The coach should be in charge of the CHAN.
:D :D :D How many failures will it take for you to understand that changing a coach a month before a major tournament will always fail. We’ve been doing it since 98 with zero success. The players on the Chan team are not going to be SE players anytime soon, why bother?
It is amazing you don't see the hypocrisy. Hiring a coach before a World Cup qualifier is different? Ok ooo

If he can install discipline and get them to believe in themselves once more (like we saw at the AFCON) the sky will be his limit.

The SE are a tournament team, the more games they play together, the better and more confident they get.

I wish him well and he deserves our FULL support.

This image might have been the clincher.
Passion on top of some great football using a team with limited talent.
I’m actually quite happy for him.

Good luck coach.
You’ll need it in the Nigerian soccer cauldron.

Good point. This must have factored into the Tech Department decision since the same RSA with same coach is in our WC group.

Looking forward to seeing his first team selection. It will tell a lot about whether we will be successful or whether some people still have slots.

His Mali team were aggressive and that is football i like. Lets see if he can replicate that with the SE.

Not the flashiest CV, but we watched his Mali and we saw qualities there. This is the first time we have made this type of appointment. Hoping we arent disappointed.

On the flip side, if he wins it, then it would be all smiles everywhere. The boys will have a whole new mentality, and I pity any other African teams that will stand in their way. It's a very achievable task IMO based on what SE recently did in Kigali. I would much rather play Rwanda and Zimbabwe in March than RSA and Benin. The matches are coming soon, but it's the best possible combo of matches to get your feet wet with. While people sit here and moan, Chelle has been busy doing his homework since November/December when he was hired. Not my 1st choice, but I'm glad it's a coach who doesn't joke around. Can't wait to watch his press conference.

So guys, do we now consider Eric Chelle a "foreign coach" or not since he's not Nigerian but a brother like us? :taunt:

Congrats to the coach. All the best to the SE.

He will be judged by his result. He has nothing to lose. Worst case he improves his CV

What part of Nigeria is he from? Dude is a French product from CIV. Trying to claim him as a Loco is just disingenuous.

Just by being announced, his CV has already improved. If he is smart (i know there are other unfortunate factors), he will do everything within his power to win - starting from the home-based tournament.

I seriously doubt if the players will give this dude maximum respect. They may feel angry that A Malian coach without any pedigree was appointed, when there are better or at least similar coaches in Nigeria.

Congratulations to Eric Chelle. He'll probably earn the amount of money he has never earned as a coach before. I wish him all the best and hope he turns out world cup fortune around.

His contract is only for the WCQ. No fanfare at all, he’ll,get to work asap and try to make the WC.

This is what we have been told, so why does the NFF want to burden him with the CHAN team? Gasau has said the new coach will be taking over the CHAN team from Ogunmodede.
Chelle should just be allowed to focus on the WCQs and avoid any distractions
I am happy
