Top scorer in the Egyptian league is a Nigerian

Post by bamenda boy »

Why is/has he not been looked at at all?
His name is Minusu Buba. With 13 goals to his credit in
arguably one of the most competative leagues in Africa.
Plays for El shorta.

Easy.. what does kanu have to do with this? you should blame your NFF that fails to utilize FIFA friendly windows when we could try out these sort of players. Also, the general Nigerian public, including YOU should also bear some blame for the unrealistic expectations you set for our coaches and players where they have to win every match at all costs or bear being labeled as failures and discarded. This is why coaches call their established euro based players (or old players of old fame) or "the devil i know" for meaningless friendlies that should be used as a tool to shore up weak spots on our teams.

lets see how long it will take someone to open their mouth and blame the coaches for bowing to public pressure without taking into account the Nigerian environment where 90% of the footballing decisions are made based on the leading public sentiment of the day  ...

Kanu has 6 ACN under his belt and not a single goal (he's SE captain too). Dunno where to start; try start a thread on need to give Kanu his benefit match today and give his place to a young Kano Pillars or Enyimba player and watch Kanu's brigade of compromised journos and hangers on attack u with ferocity......3 of those ACN coulda been used to unearth 2 talents.Kanu epitomises the corruption and rot in players selection in nigeria

And i agree with you. Kanu's retirement date has come and loonnnggg gone. however, we cant start trying out new players expecially unproven kano pillars or enyinmba players in competitive matches since that is the only time we play as our association is incapable of organizing routine friendlies. Besides, how many times has Kanu played for Nigeria in the past year, its not like the players that have stepped in his place lit up the place. from the way he invigorated the team after coming on during the WCQ, it is clear he still has something to offer that the team is lacking (granted he is a huge liability defensively). I honestly wish we didn't have to rely on such an old player, but until we provide a better environment to unearth new players, you cant blame him for aspiring to and being selected on the team.

If my memory serves me right, one of my all-time SE favourites, Emmanuel Amunike broke onto the world stage with Nigeria whilst playing in the Egyptian league.
So why not?

If all our footballing decisions are based on public sentiments or opinion, Amodu would never have been appointed the coach at the first place.

if decisions were based on public sentiments, Amodu would have been fired way before ANC 2010, along with his mediocre players like Nwanneri, Olofinjana & Yakubu.

If our footballing decisions were based on public sentiments, the olympic team would have been the nucleus of our present-day super eagles.

Nobody is saying that Amodu must win friendlies. The public was rather saying that younger players should be given a chance in order to unearth more quality players and create viable competition for the good of the team.

So what's your point?
