Roger Milla - World Cup 1990 (Video)

This man is the greatest African striker ever. He's greater than Eto, Drogba, Weah and our own Yekini. His performance @ the 1990 world cup despite his old age is the best display of any African striker ever in a world cup. I don't think Africa will ever produce another Roger Milla.

That second goal against Romania where he passes the ball to himself remains a mystery.
Omam did jump up but never touched the ball.
Milla who gave the cross accelerated to get it behind Omam and smash it to the net as if he knew it was going to be a goal no matter what. That was sweet.

So his performance at the world cup was not a surprise to people like us And around Africa – he was the platini of the 1986 and 1988 & Nations cup – wished he had in 86’ world cup .

I find it quite interesting that even though Milla and Omam were not in good terms, when they put on the GRE, they played as if they were best of friends.

Absolutely agree. The way he touched the ball and moved about is a joy especially considering how old he was. He was a finesse player not speed and brute strength which now characterise most high profile african strikers

Two times I have cried watching football. Cameroon 1990 and Nigeria against Italy. Dont worry I was still a baby

You know what you are talking about. Roger Milla was in the level of Platini, Rummenigge, Zico and other other greats of the 80s.

Just wondering how good he was with his club side – if only Africa had a good archive culture
