Pasamu on Monday Feb 22nd 2010 post ANC- I will repeat again, the problem with our team was never ability or personnel or even tactics . It was confidence pure and simple confidence. Amodus team had been spat upon, anything they did was dismissed as insignificant To see the team going from playing brilliant football against Egypt in the first half of their ANC group game to the cautious fear laden play against Zambia was sad.

1-1 Very good game
Yusuf looks like he's operating nominally on the left side of a midfield trio, he's very mobile and makes good decisions except for one errant pass that almost caused a goal

Yes for sure
Caveat: my observations are based on one game He may be utilized in other ways but this is what I saw today
He's not a direct DM replacement for Ndidi based on his role today; he's more of a CM who's always showing for the ball, gets forward and uses the ball very very well
Kinda what Aribo tries to do when he's on his game!
If Bonke can get a look in, this kid deserves a chance.....

I'll take Yusuf, Nwobodo, or Dele-Bashiru ahead of Bonke.

In the november matches we will be without
Ndidi, Etebo, Kinglsey Michael
Rohr will be stupid not to call up Alhassan.
Thunder strike that man if he continues to ignore our midfield.

Rohr is so set in his ways & loyal to players to a fault. He is not progressive at all. A very very predictable coach at best

Nwakali, Yusuf, Tom & Bashiru Dele Bashiru , Ejaria, Onyedika, Tosin Kehinde, Nwobodo, Amoo, Abdul Rasaq etc If Rhor does not call up at least 2 of the following Mids then EFCC must investigate him.

Also watched Yusuf today. He has the trappings of becoming a good btb CM, but I don't think he is ready for African football at this moment. Ditto that for most of the people you listed.
The question for you is: who, in the present midfield stables will you drop for any one of the guys you listed?
Personally, I wouldn't drop anyone of the present corps of SE Midfielders for any of the guys you listed. Not a single one!
And yes, I have watched all the fellows you listed in full match situations (not highlights) and I am not entirely impressed.

Every Nigerian team should have at least 6 mids. Not 3 or 4. 2ndly yes i would drop Shehu Abdulahi for most of these guys. Nwobodo, Tom Dele and Onyedika have done more than enough to earn a call up. 3rd This team is badly in need of an attacking mid so the likes of Kehinde, Ejaria, Amoo and Mwakali definately deserve a look. 4th I doubt you have watched these guys closely. They are out performing the deadwoods **** keeps calling up.

Not only Shehu but Bonke. That guy cannot even trap a ball.
Did anyone notice in the last match he passed the ball right to the CAR attacker and it almost lead to a goal. Horrible player.

i am going to watch this game right now, for 66 mins and then make my verdict.. I also saw Aribo vs Bronby . **** is not using Aribo well at all.. plays him in a withdrawn role... however the dude is a top notch box to box... **** is the reason why i made a thread to yab Leon and Aribo after that pathetic loss to CAR

Its a good thing you say 2 because I only see Nwakali & Nwobodo as viable options of those you listed based on their Experience with our youth teams (U17/20/23) as well as what they'd offer our midfield on the ball, the rest you've listed are either on the come-up or should ideally be part of one of our youth setups to see how they fare in a less demanding level.bret- hart wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 8:47 pm Nwakali, Yusuf, Tom & Bashiru Dele Bashiru , Ejaria, Onyedika, Tosin Kehinde, Nwobodo, Amoo, Abdul Rasaq etc If Rhor does not call up at least 2 of the following Mids then EFCC must investigate him.
Other Midfielders I do see as options in that capacity are:
Ifeanyi Matthew (Lillestrom),
Azubuike Okechukwu (Sivasspor)
And to a lesser extent:
Afeez Aremu who's having a decent season with ST Pauli as they're top of the 2. Bundesliga
Re: US CYBERS Osayi-Samuel (Fenerbache) vs Alhassan Yusuf (Antwerp) UEL Paramount+ 1245 am est
Yes, I have watched them closely - always do. Truth is that nowadays, I hardly bother watching clubsides that don't have Nigerian Players (Current or Potential) for that reason.
Its a luxury for any team in this day and age have 6 or so midfield specialists. However, it makes more sense when building a squad for a tournament, to have the right balance of 'generalists' and 'specialists' (by 'generalists', I mean versatile or Multi-functional players capable of playing multiple positions without missing a beat).
The issue is majority of the midfield folks you listed are 'specialists' and really could become a liability when you need them. Our current MF specialists (injured and non-injured) are Ndidi, Onyeka, Etebo, Kingsley and Bonke. The likes of Aribo, Iwobi, Iheanacho and Shehu are all Multi-functional players (generalists). I don't think Rohr or any other right thinking coach will drop any of them for the lads you listed - I certainly wouldn't!
**A great example is the new kid on the block, Calvin Bassey. Today, when Balogun went down injured (hammie) during Glasgow Ranger's Europa League game, he came in for Balogun and played as a CB. Kid can play comfortably as Left back, Left side CB or Left wing back. That is the kind of player you need in a national team, not players who can only play one position and that's it.
Again, most of the guys you listed have yet to demonstrate they can play multiple roles on their team, let alone a National team.

Nwobodo, Onyedika, Tom Dele, and Amoo can play multiple positions. Bonke is a specialist DM. I expect him to be dropped once Ndidi is fully fit. I do agree that some of them like Ishaq Abdul Rasak, Fisayo Bashiru need more time to develop but i the others i listed are ready. At least let them comepete for shirt like was done for Kinglsey and Bonke.

I'm not too big on Kehinde tbh, he's a winger and we have way too many that are better than him. But if we actually look at things we don't have that many actual DM's, besides the injured duo of Ndidi and Etebo the majority are generally CM'sbret- hart wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 2:17 amNo cap but i think Tom Dele, Amoo and Tosin Kehinde are more than ready in addition to Nwakali and NwobodoSunset wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 1:52 amIts a good thing you say 2 because I only see Nwakali & Nwobodo as viable options of those you listed based on their Experience with our youth teams (U17/20/23) as well as what they'd offer our midfield on the ball, the rest you've listed are either on the come-up or should ideally be part of one of our youth setups to see how they fare in a less demanding level.bret- hart wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 8:47 pm Nwakali, Yusuf, Tom & Bashiru Dele Bashiru , Ejaria, Onyedika, Tosin Kehinde, Nwobodo, Amoo, Abdul Rasaq etc If Rhor does not call up at least 2 of the following Mids then EFCC must investigate him.

And I'm guessing you mean Igoh Ogbu? He's a really good prospect IMO a very tough defender and really good on the ball, though Ozornwafor got all the plaudits, he was IMO the best player in that U20 team. But if you're looking for other prospects we have theres Bruno Onyemaechi (22) at Feirense & Franklin Tebo (21) of BK Hacken, it'll be interesting to see how they further develop.

I had stated Bonke was a midfield specialist (DM, CM).

Again, most of the guys you listed have yet to demonstrate they can play multiple roles on their team, let alone a National team.bret- hart wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 12:53 am
